Has Complaining About A Goodle Ad Worked?

There’s been a Google ad at the bottom of many pages for at least a few days now about not hiring the mentally ill as they’ll turn you in for abusing them and it’s not worth the bother.
I know there’s some system for reporting these, but is it worth the bother itself? Will anything be done?

The site you refer to is by a bipolar man who was fired by a Salvation Army facility in Alaska. He means it to be provocative and ironic.
No, I’ve complained a couple of ads and they are still showing. In addition, Google didn’t acknowledge my note.

Good to know; that’s the level of mediocrity I expected, actually.

I don’t think it’s mediocrity at all. I work for Google. I think if every petty complaint led to ads being removed, no one would trust Google at all. What if the lunatic fringe that Rooseveldt warned about were to object to all ads for your favorite cause?
There are people are faulting us for paying attention to the most populous country on earth, and then you want us to drop an ad because some individual is too sensitive? I don’t think so.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand the first part of this sentence. What do you mean?

Google is taking a verbal beating for Kowtowing to China over Internet issues.

However, Toast Museum, Google is not being asked to remove an ad from all sites, but from this specific site. There are cases where this should be at least acknowledged.

Jim

He was such a great president. So much better than Woodrow Wilsavanna.

I was surprised to see the ad for a website that apparently provides instructions on how to hide your stash from the authorities. If I started a thread on that topic, it would be closed post haste.

No, they shouldn’t be acknowledged except perhaps a form letter that says what I’m about to say.

Google has it’s own terms and policies for accepting and placing ads with, I believe, a distinction made for “adult” ads. The SDMB accepted those terms for non-adult ads so it’s tough crap if you want Google to make some little list of which ads offend the sensibilities of every website using Adwords. That is way too much micromanaging and besides website admins each have a “Competitive Ad Filter” list which can be used to block ads deemed unsuitable for their own specific site. If it offends you that much you are simply going to have to beg Jerry to stick it on the SDMB filter. Reporting to Google should be for reporting blatantly illegal advertising, adult content that has snuck through or things that have otherwise contravened Google’s policies.

To be perfectly honest, I’d like to know on what grounds Nawth Chucka thinks that the Alaskan-Mentally Ill ad should be pulled?
