Has Hillary committed political suicide?

Here’s her quote of the day on why she’s still in the race:

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it.”

See the article:

I think she should drop out right now. I cannot believe she expects the VP slot, now. I mean she planted the seed for some psycho to do her bidding so she could get the nomination

Wow, she’s lost it. These sorts of comments are evidence that she is not qualified for the job. Her comparison of seating Florida and Michigan to Civil Rights is equally beyond the pale. I think she’s not right in the head at this point.

I think it was coldly calculated. It isn’t the first time she referenced the Bobby murder, and in the link, above, one of the campaign staff mentioned - it, publicly, I think.

Add to that we hear vague yet worrisome references in the media about Obama;s security problems.

As I have journeyed from recovering conservative to flaming liberal, it is precisely her subversive yet self-serving tact that has kept me from supporting her even though I appreciate her politics.

She is putting it out there reserving plausible deniability.

“Wha…? Li’l ol’ me?”

Would I be wrong to say it’s okay for everybody except the current candidates, their staff or their surrogates* to bring something like this up? Especially a seeming non sequitur such as this was.

  • not saying we can always know who these are.

The video where she supposedly says it from the Daily KOS

Watch at your own risk. There is a lot of talking about other stuff. I don’t know when in the interview she makes the statement.

She just admitted it on MSNBC. And, of course, insisted she was just making ahisorical reference. Uh huh.

Here’s a clipped one. Here is the clip

It’s a strange non-sequitur, but it doesn’t seem like anything that major when watching it. She’s just talking about cases of the Democratic Primary stretching into June.

She’s the fucking Beast from Revelation.

Y’know I’ve been trying to find respect for her and to cut her slack. Really I have. I’ve been doing my best to see her actions in the best possible light. I understand that “healing” requires that Clinton supporters feel that their candidate has been shown proper respect. But … my god! I should stay in it because I can always hope someone kills him??

Okay maybe she didn’t mean it that way … I can try to believe that. Maybe she is just expressing herself poorly again. I’ll try to believe it. I will. I really want to. But I just can’t. Sorry.

The restraint shown by Obama is impressive. I’d be losing it right now.

One of the things about Obama that I’ve enjoyed so far is his restraint and the way that he’s conducted his campaign so far, but man, sometimes life sets the ball up on the tee for you and you’re nuts if you don’t take that swing.

Right now Hillary’s staggering back and forth with the words FINISH HER floating above her head ala Moral Kombat.

bolding mine

My favorite typo of the day!

As much as it pains me to say it, because I’ve come to nearly loathe the woman, I really don’t believe Hillary meant anything by the reference other than “1968 was one of the most famous Dem-Nom-Prims in U.S. History and RFK was still campaigning that June”.

Agree. There was nothing more than a passing reference to when the nomination was secured(June). And I’m a Liberal for Obama. Her statement was in no way about Obama/assassination.

Amen. Impressive doesn’t begin to describe it. He’s getting this crap from both sides, Hillary and McCain, and he’s like Neo in the Matrix fighting Agent Smith at the end, just calmly parrying a barrage of swings with one hand behind his back. People are seeing before their very eyes the emergence of what could become one of America’s greatest presidents.

You’re not thinking like a lunatic — but odds are, someone is.

Amen.

As much as I dislike the woman, this is overkill. She can’t kill her chances, those died a long time ago. She won’t kill her chances at re-election in New York, nothing can do that.

This is a non-event. It’s a person making an unwise assertion out of desperation. Start showing some class, some of that good ol’ Democratic “healing” that I keep hearing about. Take the high road and ignore it.

Well that’s the version that my mom made me play.

No, Airman, with all due respect. A person is someone like you or me. She’s a candidate for president. That’s a special kind of person that has extra responsibility. Every word she speaks is heavily reviewed, examined, and vetted — and that’s before she says them. Afterward, her words carry enormous weight. And there are crazy people who hear things that you and I don’t. You don’t bring up the assassination of a popular young Democratic candidate when you’re talking to or about a popular young Democratic candidate. It is stupid beyond belief.

For me, it’s not so much the RFK reference (though that’s somewhat tasteless considering Sen. Kennedy’s recent diagnosis) as the deliberate fudging of the significance of June. In 1968 (and 1992), California’s 300+ delegates were up for grabs in June. That’s significant. In 2008, California had their primary in early February (as did New York). There’s NOTHING on this end of the primary calendar this year that has anywhere near the significance of California. There are less than 100 primary delegates (as opposed to supers) left to vie for, and she’s 156 behind Obama. There is no miracle in the offing here as far as pledged delegates go.
