Has it been a cool spring where you are?

Wacko and weird weather in central Arizona.

A week ago, cold, rainy and windy. This week, temperatures in the 100s. Rain is quite rare in the middle of April. So are 100 degree temperatures. The first week of April was also well below normal and it also rained on April 4th.

Southern Alberta had a winter storm last night–began by raining, then the cold set in and the rain turned to snow. We woke up to snow and icy roads. Forecast is for temps close to freezing for the next five days or so.

What is this “spring” you speak of?

Coldest spring ever.

Just called up some Environment Canada charts for Edmonton. In February and March there were only 9 days where the daytime max was above normal. On some days, the daytime max did not get above the average overnight low.

They only have data for completed months but I’m sure April is even worse.

The odd thing is that most of January was freaky warm.

It’s been pretty cool and crappy here as well. Good weather is a-comin’, however.

Height of summer here. We have no spring. It is HOT. HOT, HOT, HOT. Mad dogs and Englishmen hot. Send ice.

Bay Area here. Despite record setting temps for a few days earlier this week, it’s been cool, and the wind is downright cold. Feh. Still can’t put out the tomatoes.

Central Alberta here - it was warm until this week. The last few days have had highs of 5c and lows of -4c.

We’ve had a couple of three-day heat waves (hamsins, or hot desert air from Arabia), but by and large it’s been pretty temperate. Yesterday I even felt chilly in a T-shirt, and it’s almost May!

It has been fairly cool, enough so that I’ve been using my space heater, but then suddenly Saturday it shot up to 85 degrees! Seems like we skipped Spring and went straight to Summer…

Well, it was pleasant through most of March and April, but a couple of days ago it finally hit 100. It will get progressively hotter through August (when it will also get humid). Remind me again why I left Beirut? (Okay, they had bombs, but the weather was nice.)

Yeah, it was 90 here yesterday. And my #@%$#@ central air is not working!

Weird spring: Snow two weeks ago and now 90!

Last week, we had a few mornings in the upper 30s and I had to turn the furnace on. This past weekend, it climbed to the 90s and I had to turn on the air conditioning.

Who stole my spring??

I’m almost next door to you, Khadaji (well, one county away, I think), so this won’t come as a surprise. This weekend was HOT. Nice during the day, but the nights were really warm, too, and we don’t want to put the air conditioners in yet because it’s sure to go right back down into the 50s before too long. So the last two night were spent in mild but annoying discomfort. Both my CPAP headgear and my pillows were soaked this morning…bleah.

We actually left the dog out of the crate overnight for the first time since we brought her home in November, so she could sleep in front of the window with the fan all night.

I’m also in PA, and I’m not enjoying this fake-summer shit. I’m moving to North Carolina in a few months, so I’m going to have to get used to 90-degree weather, but in April it’s just wrong.

I’m looking out on 4" of snow on April 27th. Still, a very warm spring here.

The A/C guy just left. He says there is a pin-hole leak in my coil condenser. He will replace it later this week… But there seems to be some cool air blowing now, so I’m more content today than I was yesterday.

Woke up to another winter storm this morning: winds, snow, freezing temps, and otherwise typical February weather. Unfortunately, it’s late April. We’re all getting a little tired of this.

Yeah, it snowed again in Edmonton today. Coupled with the daily high of 3c since last Thursday, it’s even getting on my nerves. At least the snow has cleared off some of the leftover winter grit, but none of the trees are in any mood to bud no matter how much sunshine there is (and there ain’t much!)

It’s been cooler than normal in Houston. Lots of late fronts that threatned many of our early emerging plants. Our biggest problem though has been the rain these fronts brought. We had a real soaker last week, then another a couple of days ago and now, just last night and this morning we’ve had over a foot of rain at our house. Today work is closed, schools are closed, I’ve not seen it like this since Tropical Storm Allison.
