Has Michael Moore fallen off the edge?

Accepting your hypothetical scenario, Saddam could always have intended to capitalise on the situation by claiming he masterminded it, thus guaranteeing himself the veneration of many Arabs, and other Muslims.

Another (more plausible?) reason for not ratting al-Q out, had he and his extensive security and intelligence apparatus known in advance of plans for an attack, would be that he simply wanted to see which way the wind would blow subsequent to the attack. Not to mention that he wanted to see if it was carried out successfully or not.

Hey, if we’re going to stat overthrowing world leaders who may have known about the 9/11 attacks but did nothing to prevent them, then George W. Bush should be at the top of that list.

Stat overthrowing world leaders, starting with Bush? Hmm…I’ll give it a try.

Not literally, no. But arguably, his long train of such abuses killed the Democrats. Republican talking heads on Fox News have called him their best friend in this election. Maybe Moore really wasn’t lying when he said he was “the anti-Democrat”.

Eh, for Bush, I think the Toon system is more appropriate:

So what do we do for Ashcroft? Paranoia?

Daniel

I dunno, having six John Ashcrofts running around the place gives me the willies…

Ashc-R-Oft. I like it.

But I suppose we could always throw Ashcroft into Call of Cthulhu . . .

Nah, silly, that’s reserved for Cheney.

Or–wait, you’re seeing Ashcroft as a cultist trying to bring back the Elder Gods, right? I like it, I like it…

The Last Word on Michael Moore:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2102723/

Hitchins gets bitchslapped

Hitchins gets rebutted in eye-numbing detail

To rjung:

Fisk Hitchens all you like. Not of it changes the fact that Michael Moore is a loathsome monster, wallowing in his own vomit and feeding on his own excrement.

Not to mention that the essay is almost five months old.

And I bet he eats puppies, too.

:roll fucking eyes:

That he can elicit this kind of response from the right wing makes me love him all the more. That alone will prompt me to buy 6 or 7 copies of F911 just so he will keep sticking it to the man. Moore power to ya Mike!

Aw jeez, Roseworm, you’re a charter member now, do some searches. You’ll find that the Moore movies have been done and done and done and done and done and done…

Awwwwww, poor Woseworm, did I debunk your beloved essay too fast? Did I hurts you widdle-biddy feelings? Is you gonna cry?

This is the SDMB, kid – passing off reheated glurge like that Hitchens article as an “argument” might work with the dittoheads over at FreeRepublic, but the standards around here are a tad higher…

With all due respects, friend rjung, but in (admittedly) skimming over your cites, they appear little more than disagreements or the excuses of Moore apologists. Hardly a “debunking,” in my opinion.

So that map came from Michael Moore? I think it’s brilliant and have seen it being sent around by e-mail.
I think there’s a lot of truth to it- I mean, a large part of people who voted for Bush said they did so because of “religion”
Not any religion I care to follow!
I don’t think Jesus would send anyone to war!
But it’s a funny graphic and makes a point

No, the map did not come from Michael Moore. Is he now decieving people into believing that it is his work?
