Michael Moore, have you at last no decency? (short)

I’m referring to this, a photomosaic of Bush made from the photographs of those killed in action in Iraq. It is horribly disrespectful to their memories and their families to use their likenesses to promote Michael Moore far more than it attacks George Bush.

And for all the high publicity attendant to his stunts and documentaries and (for God knows what reason) bestselling books, can Moore claim one thing that has ever actually changed for the better because of his chest thumping?

Fucker.

PS- The photomosaic is courtesy of American Leftist but appears on Moore’s blog. Moore will bring it far more publicity.

Well…at least it’s not a photomat of their bloody corpses that Bush caused.

That said I do agree it is tasteless and there’s other ways to make a point.

I think it kicks ass.

Bush murdered these people and this a vivid way to remind everybody of that. Well done.

I have to say I don’t really see how it promotes Moore more than it bashes Bush. When I saw the mosaic first a few days ago, I only saw it as an attack on Bush. I’m not trying to be contrary; perhaps if you explain I might see it your way.

It’s quite shocking, but sometimes shock is called for. Moore is a jerk, but he does seem to genuinely believe something needs to be done.

I don’t see how it’s disrespectful to the families either. It’s a lament for what happened to those victims and an accuasatory finger at the person responisble. It’s an expression of outrage at unnecessary casualties. How is that disrespectful?

Now sending people to die for no reason, on the other hand…

Events have overtaken sacrcasm. Mark Russel doing a bit of harmless joshing while plinking a jaunty tune on the piano just isn’t going to get it. It isn’t about good taste, or propriety. Our “leaders” deserve nothing but withering scorn, any deference is obscene.

Many times in the past I have been pissed about Moore’s loose cannon status, how he embarasses a worthy cause will self-serving theatrics. But not this time, this time he threw the ball right over the middle of the plate.

Now, I wish he would sit down and shut up for a while.

I trust you’re also going to cease complaining about the Bush administration “using” 9/11 imagery to promote his re-election campaign?

Same thing.

I wouldn’t piss on Moore if he was on fire, but since the Iraq war was based on a sham and will only bring us harm even if we “succeed” there, the artwork is justifiable protest IMO. A more poignant one would be of pictures of all the innocent civillians that were killed in Iraq. A number greater than that of Al Quaeda’s US toll.

I dunno. Maybe the families of the victims don’t want to see their child used by Micheal Moore to promote his view of the war (heck some of them may even be for it in spite of their loss). If he got permission first I’d totally drop that line of thought.

Why bother? If GeeDubya has the raw chutzpah to try to paint himself as the Vigilant Defender, and the American people buy it…what will be left to fight for?

I Michael Moore running for office?

Is Moore trying to make any point about himself by posting this image on his website?

It’s just a political protest, man. It’s not self-serving the way the Bush ad was.

Who knows what the families want but I’m sure that Michael Moore does not need permission to lament the loss of their loved ones, even if not all the families agree with his view of the war.

And it’s not like Moore is the one who sent those kids to die for no reason in the desert. That seems a little more exploitive to me.

Hmmm. Well I see your point but still disagree.

Oh well I just can’t get worked up something that makes Bush look bad. Maybe if my friend was on it (he was over there shot twice and shrapnel in his back but alive and fully functional) I’d have a stronger opinion on way or another.

I think MM is disgusting jerk. However, I think this is a very good picture. It is hard-hitting image, precisely to the point. Any person in power that commands people to die must be shoved an image like this in the face on a regular basis. As I see it, it doesn’t denigrate Bush, it is not disrespectful to the fallen and grieving, it simply is a harsh reminder of brutal reality. I see nothing wrong with that.

Is Michael Moore ever not making a point about himself?

Isn’t it possible that a few of the soldiers in that mosaic died fighting in a war they believed in, led by a Commander in Chief they believed in? How would they feel about being used to insult him now?

I have said it several times in the past that Michael Moore is a jerk and an idiot but I cannot see why this can be seen as disrespectful to those killed. It seems to make a point rather well.

I don’t recall him ever trying to make a point about himself.

Should all miltary casualties be ignored because some of them might be in favor of the war?

I don’t give a shit what the victims thought of Bush. They still died for no reason, whether they knew it or not. Their lives were still wasted and Bush is still responsible. Moore has every right to be outraged about that.

I strongly suspect that this self-promotion accusation against Moore is simply the default response to anything he says. Even if he has an irrefutable point, they can always say “but he’s only saying that to promote himself!”.

The biggest thing I wrong Bush for is vetoing that urgently needed legislation to forcefully administer psychotropic medications to every wiseacre in Minnesota that assumes a name of some ancient Greek philosopher.
