Nah! He’s still very much around, just has lots to do and doesn’t post as much as the old days. He read the board today but hasn’t posted for six weeks or so.
Note–please don’t fill his head full of such nice sentiments. He’s really a jerk!

Skip is a wonderful guy. However, he had this thing called fatherhood happen to him, which tends to be a time sink. We prevailed upon him to stay in the loop but we hear from him at fairly long intervals. We’re grateful when we do.
He’s been retired from here for a while – we keep hoping we’ll suck him back in but he’s being really stubborn about this real life thing.

That thread depresses me. Everyone talks about how much greater the board was back then. I don’t see it. It’s the same capricious “I’m gonna warn you for something that isn’t in the rules, and I’m just gonna use the jerk rule to claim that I’m right.” It’s quite clear that he did not intend to be a jerk. He just violated board customs, which is not the same thing.
It all boils down to lack of communication of expectations. You want people not to perform a certain action? You flat out tell them. You don’t just expect it, and you don’t punish them before you’ve told them.
I’d love to see a mod try the “It’s just a warning” defense today.
I wouldn’t base an assessment of the board on one warning from five years ago. And I don’t think we really need to revisit that warning either.
Standing ovation, followed by bowing and a chant of “we’re not worthy.” 
Come on, it’ll be fun! We can waste whole pages, wherein new, fresh warnings can be issued. The laughter, the anger!
