Hated Shows in your Favorite Series

The implication is that the ghost had nailed just about all of Bev’s female ancestors, going back several hundred years.

Ick, indeed.

RealityChuck already beat ya to it.

TNG: “The Naked Now.” Yeesh.

And let’s not forget this entire planet was colonized by descendants of Scotland. I guess it was the Scots’ idea of a joke to choose a new planet with the same crappy climate as their old country (fog, rain, cold weather) and continue to speak with a thick brogue.

Don’t know the ep title, but the DS9 ep where the crew and the Romulans play baseball. I saw the previews and I knew there was no way any good would come of it. It remains the only ep I have not seen.

Les Nessman saved the day!

Viva, I can’t believe after all this time that I whooshed you of all people.

They were Vulcans, not Romulans and it was Take Me Out to the Holosuite.

Incredibly cheesy but a funny show regardless.

Ya know, I had pretty much forgotten about this one.
Until now.
Thanks a lot, buddy!

Some other Star Trek monstrositys

TNG: Rascals: 4 members are turned into whining kids who must take back the ship from evil ferengi!

Voyager: Threshold: It doesn’t get much worse than this. Lets just say at the end of the episode Janeway and Paris have “evolved” into alien reptiles and decide to mate.

Well, since we’ve turned this into a Trek Doper thread, how about the entire first half of Season II of Enterprise?.

Bile comes up my throat just remembering 'em all.

However, that period did generate some of the best Trek Doper threads in SDMB history, so I have soft spot in my head for that time period.

MASH** had some incredibly bad messagy shows in the later seasons, but I can’t think of any specific ones. If it had Alda going on and on about something, you’ve probably found one.

Scots in Space would be a great TV show.

Quantum Leap - The series finale. I felt incredibly betrayed by Donald Bellisarius. The whole surreal bartender/God thing. They just left Sam hanging. It was so wrong.

StG

He came back!

Fridays at 7:00 on UPN.

I thought you just had No Clue.

The messagy MASHes…Yeah, the surreal Hawkeye dream thing was one I could have done without. Ditto the one where he can’t stop sneezing and then dredges up a bad memory of being pushed into the water by his cousin or something. I blame Alan Alda for the deterioration of that series in its last 2 or 3 years, when he turned it into the AlanAldaSensitive80sGuyPsychoBabble show.

If we’re talking bad Trek, nothing beats the DS9 episode where Quark poses as a woman to help gain equale rights for Ferengi females. DS9 at its best was superb, but the low points…well, let’s just say they were really low. (And most of them involved multiple Ferengi.)

I’m surprised at how little time, and how few posts, it took to turn this into the “Hated Shows in Star Trek” thread.

Sub Rosa was good. Creepy, but good. As was Genesis and Masks and The Game and Take Me Out to the Holosuite and Rascals. (“He’s my number one dad!”) But Threshold? Yeah, it blew.

[fanboy]Yeah, but Riker got to bag a really, really hot Scottish chick!!![/fanboy]

[in an attempt to drive it away from a complete ST thread]

Grey 17 is Missing from B5. If this is the one I’m thinking about, then yeah…it sucks. (It’s the one where Garibaldi ends up shooting some monster with ancient bullets by putting them in a steam pipe, right?)

Bend Her from Futurama. Bad plot idea to begin with, plus, it seemed that at the end of season 4, there was a huge wave of Bender episodes. We had Obsoletly Fabulous, Bender Should not be Allowed on TV,and BNend Her. None were that good (by Futuraam standards, still better than anything else on tv,) but Bend Her was the worse. The last five minutes were hilarious, but everything leading up to it was painful compared to good Futurama.

Most old-school anime (recent titles, due to the downturn in the economy, typically only run 26 episodes) have their share of horrible filler episodes that are obviously hack, and generally contradict themselves or established canon.

One particularly hated filler is the notorious “Super Horse” episode from somewhere within Rurouni Kenshin. (I’ve seen the episode in question and I don’t have a problem with it - basically, the characters are riding in a train that gets hijacked, so Kenshin grabs a very talented horse that has l33t jumping skills and beats up all the bad guys.)

Clips shows are annoying, too, but it’s a bit more forgivable in Japan since I don’t think they show reruns (or don’t do them as much).

Sub Rosa was pure distilled crap. See also: Masks and Genesis.

All the bad ferengi episodes from DS9 seem to blend together in my mind, but the worst non-ferengi episodes have got to be Past Tense, Second Sight and Melora. Bleh!

Beer Bad was really really bad. My mind can’t process the contradiction of someone liking Buffy but not Once More with Feeling. Go Fish stinks on ice.

I loved the final Quantum Leap episode, but I realize most didn’t.
