Have the New York Public Library lions ever been featured in a TV show?

I think the title is pretty much it, but why I’m asking is that I am participating in a photographic scavenger hunt. One of the categories is “As seen on TV”, and I got a couple of good shots of Fortitude that I’d like to use.

Seinfeld. The one with the library detective and the atomic wedgie.

They’re spoofed in “Between the Lions”, a kids’ TV show that takes place in a library.

They are also seen in Ghostbusters (a movie rather than a TV show, but it has certainly been shown on television in the last 22 years).

They have names?! What’s the other one’s?

Patience, who is on the left when you are looking at the front door, whereas Fortitude is on the right.

Their actual names are Leo Astor and Leo Lenox, in honor of John Jacob Astor and James Lenox.

But apparently that’s too hoity-toity for some people, so for a while they’ve been called Patience and Fortitude instead.

Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia renamed them in the 1930’s. He felt that Patience and Fortitude were the qualities that New Yorkers needed to see them through the Great Depression.

I keep the names straight by remembering that the northerly lion, Fortitude is closer to the cold north.

In the movie “Hair”, they get up and dance.

There is an episode of one of the Law and Order shows where the victim finds a present from her admirer/bad guy person by one of the lions. They talk about it a lot because there is a clue on her phone, a text that says something like, “Lions have gift for sexy <name>.”
