Alright, like a scrotum, here it is in a nutshell.
You’re still young, the world is still changing and you are still changing. There will come a point where the two eclipse each other and you’ll feel alright, you’ll have a sense of meaning, purpose and understanding of your life and the world around you. Well, most of us even as adults never get it right, but you will get to a point where you are content in who you are and how you view the world. You will find some balance and equilibrium. It takes time. I personally think that mentally, being a teenager is one of the worst parts of life, you are still developing physically and emotionally and they are not in sync at the same time. It will happen some day though, don’t get too down about it, and if it’s any comfort at some point in all of our lives(humans) we felt the way you do and still have some moments of it, but it will pass. Just live and enjoy it, you only get one chance at life so do what makes you happy even if it conflicts with how you “should” be by others’ standards.
I don’t have to give a single shit about policing my posting, I may sound naive. Doesn’t mean I don’t know what I am trying to say.
And yes people have always said being a teenager is like to trying to lose weight and I can understand why.
I say the rise of technology it’s what’s creating more sedentary lifestyles around us.
See, this is why I could never be a moderator, I’d be way too tempted to move this thread to IMHO or The Pit or someplace else.
The tricky part of effective communication is making sure everybody else knows what you’re trying to say. Otherwise you’re just mumbling to yourself, son. We can’t hear or understand you.
Okay, I give up. How is being a teenager like trying to lose weight?
You wouldn’t be the first to say it. Which technology do you think is the worst offender?: Automobiles? Electricity? Farming and agriculture?
Kidding aside, while technological advances have certainly lead to more sedentary work habits (office work, factory work, etc.) it has also led to a more productive economy and workforce with much more leisure time to spend doing things like exercising and reading and enjoying various forms of entertainment and travel.
See? It’s not enough to say “technology causes sedentary lives”. Get in the habit of critical thinking, not sedentary thinking – exercise your ideas.
The good ones. Some of the others need to be exorcised.
Hell, I’d like to see him stick to one single thought and see it to its logical conclusion. He says he’s here to challenge his thoughts and ideas. I guess he means each and every one, the second they pop in and out of his head.
Where do they say this and what does it mean?
WTH is he talking about? Luc, explain the weightloss/teenager thing.
Also, why did you walk 7hrs. Were you in kind of a marathon or something?
He must be at school right now.
Oh, hell I don’t really care, anyway.
Your reference to this generation as dark is unwittingly telling. As long as you’re afraid of what you don’t understand, you’ll resist understanding it. Or, at least, most people tend to shy away from what scares them.
And, generally, when we lose the need to adapt to survive, we become boring old couch potatoes. Somehow, creativity dies as stress wanes. I don’t really get why.
Go do something interesting today. Something you wouldn’t. Talk to a young person. Volunteer. Visit a strip club.
Point is to challenge your comfort zone. You’ll be happier for it.
What, exactly, is wrong with a sedentary lifestyle? My parents and grandparents worked hard so I might not have to, I could have a more sedentary lifestyle. To turn it down would be rubbing their noses in it.
He’s 16.
Well then, I almost forgot the thread even existed.
Yes, I know I was being a bit too unorthodox with that comparison. But I am pretty sure if I made even a statement more… Never mind I will just reexplain it.
Being a teenager it’s perhaps you’re most struggling time. You’re basically increasing your world awareness and trying to get used to new social norms. As a kid of course you’re used to being careless and hoping just to explore some basic interests. it really goes without saying. because I mean you’re now aware of yourself.
He’s another aspect to add about my personal life, I used to live in a not-very cultural town. I used to live in the border town of Laredo Texas. Now moving to a less culturally isolated town(Round Rock), it took me awhile to embrace the new cultural atmosphere in the town I am in. At this time I also went for an Anti-American rhetoric due to my poor understanding of American culture. So I mean add that in. How else do you think I still have my poor English in?
Longer sentences, yes. Because of formal and perfect writing needed in essays. So believe it or not for me longer sentences require from me more thinking and more time to write. Where as shorter sentences don’t need so much process, I mean you can just rush one right away.
Bullshit.
Dude, call bullshit all you want. It’s what it is. ![]()
