Have you ever lost a day of your life?

Let me start by saying that I don’t remember much of Monday. This is what I do remember……

I woke up feeling very groggy and lethargic. I pulled my lazy butt out of bed and began my morning ritual to get ready for work. On the way to work, I was so tired I almost fell asleep sitting in traffic. Once I got to the office at 7:30, I had to actually take a quick catnap in the car before I went into the office to begin my day at 8.

I sat down at my desk and began to feel a “pressure” in my head. Not a headache, just pressure. Then, the headache started and my head felt like it was going to explode. The pain was so intense I actually got nauseous and then felt very anxious and nervous, as if I had to get out of where I was. I ended up leaving the office at 10:30 and driving home. I do not remember much of the drive home. When I got home, the headache was gone but I immediately fell asleep and slept until 4:30 that afternoon. When I awoke, I was crying uncontrollably (out of a dead sleep) but I do not recall any dream that I was having that would have triggered that. I proceeded to cry from 4:30-7:30 off and on. I was ok when I way lying down but the minute I stood up, the tears would just flow and I would literally break down, sobbing. I finally gave up at 7:30, went back to bed, and slept until the next morning. My husband was traveling that night and said he called me at 8:00 and I sounded drunk and “out of it.” He was concerned but said that I reassured him repeatedly that I was fine and just really tired. I do not recall talking to him that night, at all.

I awoke the next day feeling refreshed and relaxed. Anyone care to take a shot at explaining what the hell happened to me that day? I felt like I was cheated out of one day of my life. :frowning:

That’s really bizarre. It could have been a migraine, but there is a pretty small chance it could be something worse.

If you start getting a persistent feeling of pressure in your head or similar symptoms to what you’ve already experienced, go see your doctor as soon as possible. You may want to anyhow, never hurts to be cautious.

Yes, when I travel to Europe.

Didn’t actress Sharon Stone have something similar? I think she is in the hospital for a brain anuerysm (or however it is spelled). Hope you don’t have this. Check with the doc.

That was my first thought when I woke up on Tuesday. But, everything has been fine so far. I guess it was just one of those days.

I lost the day after my 21[sup]st[/sup] birthday.
"Course, I don’t think I’d want it back, doubt I could handle it.

Every month, I lose (cumulatively) one working day of my life due to commuting. And I don’t have a bad commute.

I lost a week of my life when I had food poisoning.

And if we’re using commutes, I’ve lost months– my commute’s as long as 4 hours per day, and I’ve been making it for over 15 years now.

Karma, sounds like you had a migraine. I had one too once that was quite similar. Has anyone else in your family had migraines? They often run in the family.

I lost about 5 days of my life my first semester of college from exhaustion. That whole semester I only got 2 hours of sleep a night while working out, working, going to class, and walking about 5-6 miles. I did this everyday for about 3 months. A week before finals I just snapped. I fell asleep that Sunday and woke up Friday. I woke up to go to class and work that was it. I slept through a couple of fire alarms and numerous phone calls. Guess I’ll never try that again.

Amazing Tiki God, you changed your name back huh? Anyway that’s college for you. I remember I once slept 21 hours in a row my freshman year(how’s that for losing a day? Nothing like getting up to go to classes only you’re the only one there and it’s not Wednesday, it’s Thursday). Also I got so distracted that I forgot to eat for 3 whole days. I remember being thoroughly confused when I tried to remember the last thing I had eaten.

Well Karma, here’s hoping you get the day back at the end, plus inflation.

I lose time on either side of a seizure.

Same as Rilchiam here.

Don’t know what it’s like to lose a whole day, but knowing that just a few minutes of my life cannot be accounted for really bugs me.

Karma, I’d look in to the migraine aspect, too. Several members of my family suffer from them, and while I’ve never seen them exhibit the behavior that you described, the physical symptoms sound strikingly similar.

I had a very bad experience when I was 17 just one month before my final college exams.

All I remember is that I reached the college and was parking my bicycle. The next thing I know is I’m some 20 miles away from home in a totally different suburb still holding onto my bicycle 5 hours later. No recollection of anything.

The second time was when I was studying engineering. I was with friends, We were at a restaurant and the next thing I know I was walking down the street in some unknown part of town 2 hours later.

It hasn’t recurred after that …

Karma, I second, third or whatever that you should see an MD about this.

Anyway, I think I blacked out once when I was drinking. It would be the only time I did black out, but I’m not sure that’s what happened. All I know is, late in the evening (or early morning, depending how you look at it), I took one of five cigarettes out of my pack. Later, when I took another, there were only two. I might have blacked out during the time it took to consume the others, or the people I was with might have smuggled them. Didn’t want to ask, because that would have meant admitting that I didn’t know if I’d blacked out. It was a very exclusive drinking club, and alcoholic symptoms meant dismissal.

Karma, you should see an MD. It may be nothing serious at all. My mom went through something very close to what you describe. It turned out to be anxiety related. Just take it easy and go see your doctor.

Let’s see… Blair Witch Project, Event Horizon, Tomb Raider, Independence Day, Fifth Element, Romeo + Juliet, Pitch Black…

…not quite a day, not yet…

Oh wait…add in about six or seven Star Trek movies.

Yeah, I’ve lost about a day.
