When you saw your own post? It’s happened to me a few times. It always shocks me for a moment, then memories flood back as I remember what I wrote as I read it. It’s an unexpected and interesting experience, similar to déjà vu.
It might start happening to me more frequently as I age and my memory declines. On the other hand, as I get older I find I’m cannier and wiser – I no longer get caught by zombie threads very often. At least as far as I can remember…
Several times. I usually read along and I start to think “I should mention X” then sure enough, I did.

Happens all the time. It has nothing to do with memory or age. I’ve posted so many times that I can’t keep track of everything and sometimes a topic interests me and I don’t realize it’s from five years ago until I see my own name.
Same as RealityChuck. I’ve been here so damn long it’s hard to think of a topic I didn’t post on at some time or another.

Yes, in fact, I posted to a thread then read an almost identical post that was posted by me a couple years ago. Now that’s deja vu, zombie-style.
I’ve been around long enough that a couple threads I started have been resurrected more than once. An eerie feeling, that.
Sure. But what’s really trippy is when you see your own post and have absolutely no memory of posting it.

Sometimes when I’m reading a zombie thread, I come across someone being wrong on the internet in the past, and I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and correct this person. And then a few posts later, there past me is, kicking ass and chewing bubblegum like a big damn hero.
And so I don’t need to go back in time to correct the past, since I always already would have been going to do so. No paradox because the past already happened.
That’s happened to me several times, not just here but on other boards too.
It would be nice if there were some kind of color coding for zombie threads. No idea on the criteria other than older than a month or last posted a month ago.
Thank goodness - I thought I was the only one who would read one of my years-old posts and have no memory whatsoever of typing it.
It’s really weird.
