Have you ever seen a celebrity driving in their car?

I was driving home from college the other day and i saw two people that looked like celebrities… keanu reeves and tom selleck (Although it really wasnt them)
it leads me to question how many people have seen celebrities…
(I’m sure many of you LA People have tons to list)

who have you seen and what kind of car were they driving??

Years ago, I saw Hank Williams Jr. on his way to a concert, in a honkin’ big Cadillac with custom tags. I ran the tags later, just to be sure.

I’ve seen John Tavener at the train station. Does that count?

Seinfeld. Don’t know what he was driving but it sure was nice. He also stayed overnight at the hotel I was working at, seen him getting in the elevator.

Lee Trevino when he was in town for some golf tournament or other. I’m sure he was driving a rental care. I wouldn’t have noticed him but he had his car window down and someone behind me called out, “How are you doing, Lee?” He was waiting for a light so he talked with the guy for a moment. I understand he’s always nice and chats with fans when they see him.

Jeff Smith aka the Frugal Gourmet. Not a car but his electric scooter. I see him occasionally in the Pike Market area. He has an apartment there. He always says “hi” to people who greet him and he even stopped to chat with me once but I got a little tongue-tied so it wasn’t a long chat.

I forgot to mention it in an earlier thread I started similar to this but I saw Babyface driving in an SUV…and possibly Jay Z but I can’t be 100 per cent sure it looked like jay Z but Babyface I am 100 per cent sure with Jay Z he was driving I was walking but with Babyface we were car to car, or car to SUV.

John English. OHHHH… you said celebrity. My mistake. :smack:
“I once sat next to God on a bus. He gave me a cookie and told me the meaning of life.” … “Well, what was it?” … “Macadamia I think” … “No, the meaning of life!” … “I can’t remember. It was a good cookie.”

Does the cast of “Minder” count…yeah I knew they didn’t.

I loved seeing Athur though, better yet they filmed an episode in MY pub

Back in the mid 70s I was a teeenager. One day I was entering a restaurant near home in Newport Beach, CA and I passed John Wayne in the vestibule as he was leaving. I said “Good Morning”, and he smiled and said “Good Morning” back.

While waiting for my table I watched him walk out into the parking lot, get into one of those gigantic Chevy station wagons with the fake wood trim and drive away.

That’s my one brush with celebrity from 21 years of living in greater LA.

I saw a Mitsubishi tooling around Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong in the late '80’s. Had a custom paint job and the words “Jackie Chan” down the side. I distinctly remember thinking “what dickhead would drive around in a car with Jackie Chan on it” and looked up to see Jackie Chan driving his customized Mitsubishi…

I saw OJ driving the white Bronco…
I saw Robert Blake driving an old beater of a pick-up…

About two years ago I was making a left turn at a four way stop.

An opposing on-coming car had not yet reached the stop sign when I began the turn.

The on-coming car ran the stop sign, almost plowed right into me.

I had a good look at the drivers face as she slammed on her breaks to avoid the collision.

Jennifer Aniston.

(I live in Los Angeles, it actually is not rare to see a celebrity, so I don;t get many points. You get more points if your story takes place in Idaho.)

I lived in LA for years so I’ve seen a zillion celebs in their cars. But I’ll never forget seeing Mr. T, on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive, with his mohawk and gold chains, driving a fire-engine red Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible, with the top down; personalized plates read “MR T”. I waved; of course he waved back.

Do you think he wanted to be noticed?

I went to junior high right around the corner from where Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward lived in Westport, CN. My cousins from Indiana visited and, being huge Paul Newman fans, insisted we drive by their house every day on the off chance we might see them. No such luck, of course.

So they drive back to Indiana – and pulling up to a red light, who’s sitting in an open covertible next to them? Yup, Paul Newman himself.

Just before the 1988 Olympic drug scandal, a friend and I were driving the 401 through Toronto. We were merging into the collector lanes, and who should be driving in the lane we were trying to merge into? Ben Johnson, the man who would be the centre of the 1988 Olympic drug scandal. He was well-known in Canada even before the Olympics, so we easily recognized him.

He was in a late-model Corvette, and he didn’t look too pleased that a couple of guys in a beat-up old Mustang were going to get in front of him. So he gave us a sneer, hit the gas, and roared off.

Years earlier, when I was in my teens, I worked in a parking lot. One day, Tony Bennett drove in. He was in town for a concert, and was driving a small Japanese import of some sort. It was nothing fancy, more of a family car. I asked why he didn’t have a car that was more suited to a celebrity. He laughed and said that the rental agency had screwed up his reservation, this was all they had, and he had to get going if he was to get to the concert on time. So he took it.

I spent some time behind Jamie Farr in New Hampshire. Much like Mr. T, he had a huge Cadillac tricked out with tacky gold accessories. His license plate was Farr1 with elaborate gold braid outlining the letters.

The strange thing was the road I was on went nowhere. It was only used by locals travelling from one nothing little town to another little town.

About a year after I started driving (read:* A long long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…*) I was coming back from dropping my sister off from Jr. High School. I pulled up next to a Stutz Bearcat on Sunset Blvd. and looked over to the driver next to me.

It was the late Dean Martin.

He looked over at me. I waved, and he waved back. When the light changed and he drove away, I noticed his license plate:

DRUNKY

I grew up in a film community in Los Angeles. I have loads of celebrity sightings and meetings. To the point that if I meet a celebrity now, I simply introduce myself and shake his/her hand. I have never asked for an autograph.

I’ve seen a few around Atlanta – None are huge mega-stars, but I think they count as celebrities:
• Rozanda Thomas (AKA “Chili” from TLC) – She was in some tricked-out SUV…maybe an Escalde? Don’t remember for sure what make it was.

• Hall of Fame Pitcher Phil Niekro (after I saw him and thought, “hey that looks like Phil Niekro”, his custom plate KNUXIE assured me it was) – He was in a huge Suburban type SUV

• Wrestling promotor/on-screen star Eric Bischoff – in what looked like a Lincoln Towncar. – Something long and black that looked like it was one step away from being transformed to a Limo.

I saw Michael Jordon driving his Ferrari with his wife, about 10 years ago. I was looking closer to make sure it was him, and almost veered into his lane.

I felt like a royal tool, and sped away.

A long time ago, in a place far away (Poplar Bluff, MO)… I saw Jesus driving a Corvette.
