Not a kid, but my SO had a conversation with an adult neighbor about it. We had just bought the house and moved in. It’s a corner lot with a locust tree surrounded by a small retaining wall near the corner. It was summertime, late afternoon, and our neighbor decided to walk across the street and sit on the retaining wall. My SO had no idea who he was and why he was sitting there, so he approached him. Turns out that the guy “just likes where the sun is when (he) sits there”.
My SO says that maybe he can enjoy the sun elsewhere. We haven’t had a problem with him since, but what a strange man. I should mention that these neighbors have a full deck on the back of the house with seating and direct sun access.
Yes. We live in a townhouse that has a small front yard - it’s basically the length of the driveway which is just a little more than the length of our van and it has a tree and a post light in it.
My dog, who loves looking out the front bay window, does not like other dogs on his yard. He frankly doesn’t like dogs walking in the street in front of his yard, but only goes ballistic and tries to get through the window when they are actually in the yard. There was one neighbor who constantly walked their dog on our side of the street, and let their dog in i[ our yard. All the while laughing, pointing, and watching our dog go absolutely BONKERS inside. I asked them stop it nicely. I yelled at them not so nicely. I BEGGED them to keep their damn dog out of our yard! Finally, I called the police. The nice officer informed them that if they trespassed again, there was going to be a real issue. He basically told them they were purposely harassing me and he would not take kindly to another call about their behavior. It stopped pretty quick after that.
Oh yes. The family across the street has a couple of delinquent kids; one time when one of them was about 8 I looked out the door and saw one of them standing under my magnolia tree snapping off little branches. I went outside and he didn’t even slow down. I said “Are you breaking branches off my tree?” and he nodded as if I’d asked him if he’d like a stick of gum. It was lucky for him I didn’t have a weapon. My mother planted that tree.
Not yet- there are only a few kids on my block, and as far as I can tell, they’re all pretty nice. So, when I see a few of them playing on my lawn, or running onto my lawn to retrieve a ball or a Frisbee, I really don’t mind.
More notably, none of the neighbors has ever yelled at my son to get off THEIR lawns, which they’d be well within their rights to do occasionally.
A buddy of mine just got out of prison after serving almost 20 years. He told some gang bangers to get off his lawn and they told him to go fuck himself. He killed one. I don’t know any details.
Yes, and I was in my late 20s when it happened. Caught a bunch of kids riding their bikes through my front yard through my bushes and everything. Pissed me right the hell off. Little turds.
When I was a kid a local bully came into the yard and threatened my brother with a knife. My mother gave the brat a “You wanna make my day, punk?” speech and said if she ever saw him again she’d call the cops. He left and never set foot on our lawn again.
