Have you ever tried human breast milk? How did it taste?

Can you use it in recipes?

My freezer is chock full of it. I’ll post the ebay link in a minute.

…not.

Yeah, thin and sweet, just like some of the other posters have said. I did a shot of it. It was an… interesting party.

Nobody else has said it yet, so I will…

“EEEeeewwww!”

I read something interesting (well, to me anyway) that a mother;s breastmilk will change to suit her baby’s growth and need, so the milk you have when your baby is three months is not the same vitamins and stuff as at nine months.

I thought it was interesting.

Twiddle. I’m assuming you got it out of a bottle after you pumped your milk - lol. Sorry, just a bit of fun

Yes, I have tried my own breast milk also (from a bottle) and it was very sweet tasting. It looked very similar to skim milk.

I tasted. I had three kids, I’m supposed to give them something I wouldn’t eat?

Hee…

Seriously…the best way I can describe it is, to me, it tasted exactly like the milk left in the bowl after you’ve eaten all of the Cheerios.

Lizard you ask some strange questions bud. But yeah I nursed all three kids and sometimes it gets on your hands…whatever… anyway it is very white but almost blue-ish white (if you can imagine that) very thin and very sweet, kind of like sugar water. Kids seem to like it and they seem very nourished by it so I guess that is all that matters.

Breast-milk shake, anyone?

Does anyone else find it ironic that we consider it disgusting to drink/see/otherwise deal with human breast milk, and yet are perfectly ok with milk from a cow.

Cows are nasty, stupid, disgusting animals in real life. They bear no resemblence to the white-washed cows on TV and printed on towels and shirts and stuff. Most parents would have no problem with their child, say at a petting zoo or a fieldtrip to a farm, milking a cow. No, I’m not suggesting they should milk humans, it’s just the difference in the comfort factors that I’m trying to highlight. Most people would turn their kids away from a woman breastfeeding in the mall.

With that being said, a few months ago a woman actually whipped it out and breast fed her kid behind me in the express line at Wal-Mart. I shit you not. That was a bit much.

Two points:
[ul]
[li]Point the first: Ideally, it should not be too much for this to happen. Feeding babies is what breasts are for, and to my way of thinking seeing mothers nurse in public should be no more remarkable than seeing someone use their legs to walk in public.[/li][li]Point the second: Given that it was a Wallmart, she is probably lucky that they did not arrest her for pedophilia or some crap.[/li][li]Point the third: There is no truth in advertising.[/li][/ul]

Adding to the anecdotal evidence - I tried mine when I was nursing; very sweet, thin and smooth, almost bluish in color - not really like cow’s milk at all.

Actually, given some time and real motivation, I could look up some links I have to breastmilk recipes—the two I recall were popsicles for teething babies, and using it to make soap. I’m totally serious, but the question might not have been, so I’ll leave the links for now.

Breast milk soap? Okay, now iewwwwww.

Mine was very sweet and definitely off-white/tinged yellow. I had a preemie, though, so maybe my body was making really high-octane stuff for her, who knows.

Mrs. Furthur

Yes out of a bottle. Left it out on the counter and wasn’t sure if it was still ok or needed dumping so took a taste.

ITA with Hamadryad on the not giving my kid anything I wouldn’t eat/drink myself. Have you ever tasted forumla? Feh. Breastmilk all the way here.

ROFL!

The first few posts in this thread were hilarious! That was cool.

what was the texture? nipple ROFLMAO!
Like everyone who has posted earlier, let me reiterate that it is sweet and looks like skim milk (which is bluish white) Its not as creamy as cows milk because it contains less fat, which is why it probably wont be good in any recipes that requires cows milk. Best served warm.

Cows really are dumb disgusting smelly animals (they slobber like you wouldnt believe). I dont see why people like their excretions but are disgusted by milk from their own species. Some people need to go to an actual dairy farm and watch the process. I guarentee you wont drink cows milk quite the same afterward. I wouldnt mind buying human milk. I am lactose intolerant and drinking human milk would be better for me. I’d pay twice as much as cows milk if it were available.

I have a dilemma whenever I encounter a woman confident enuf to breastfeed her child in public, especially if she is attractive and isnt shy about whipping it out I never know whether to look the other way out of respect or if I should start forming a line to be next.

Um, milk from anywhere in the “hind” region is a whole 'nother subject entirely.

It is SO sweet. When I first tasted mine in February (a drop falls here and there while I’m pumping-what-am I not gonna try it?), I thought it was
because I was seriously addicted to those Cadbury chocolate eggs in the purple bag. However, now that Easter’s over and I’ve dialed down the candy coating, it’s still just as sweet.

And it comes in attractive packaging!

George Carlin once said that “tits” shouldnt even be on the list of 7 words you cant say on television. They sound so commercial.

New Nabisco TITS!! bet you cant have just one!
