She now umm “lactate’s” quite often but it is hormonal not pregnancy related (so says the GYN). But happens to be she actually is this time. I thought she was “glowing” today.
I never worked up the nerve to taste my breast milk when I had Nicky… milk in general grosses me out. I did squirt a few people wiht it though–for those who haven’t had the opportunity, you can press on the breast and it’s like a shower head of milk!
Kellibellim it’s a shame there’s no Olympic event for this!
The Friends episode had a lot of cute one-liners… “Why won’t you try it?”
“Because breast milk is for infants!”
“Of course, the packaging does appeal to adults and kids alike.”
There was a big flap in this area a while ago in a day care center, where a woman who was nursing decided, for some bizarre reason, to quiet down one of the infants - not her child - by breast-feeding him. This greatly upset the woman whose child it was, and IMHO with good reason.
yes, i admit to both tasting my own milk, and to showering people
human breast milk tastes sweeter than cows milk.
and if you’ve never lived on a farm, milk doesn’t naturally come out all blended together, or “homogenized” (i never claimed to be able to spell)
some of the milk is thick like cream, and some is more like water. but it all squirts about 5 or ten feet if you ever want to hose anyone.
if a woman who is nursing a baby becomes sexually aroused, the front of her shirt will be soaked almost instantly. so, i suspect, most new fathers have tasted breast milk.
as far as the daycare worker nursing a baby, it was irresponsible to say the least. forgetting the fact that it was just plain creepy.
i would imagine diseases like AIDS and hepatitis could very easily be transmitted through breast milk
One of the things my husband missed after I stopped nursing was that extra sweet bonus of foreplay. I myself miss being able to squirt him from across the room. I used to wish there were distance events for it, too.
I myself rather liked the taste, like Melanietarrant said, it’s like a sweetened milk.

No I’m afraid that I never tried breast milk. I didn’t breast feed my son. The doctor gave me some type of pills that I took for a week that dried my milk right up.
It also affects the taste, but there, my source is not personal (I agree that it tastes sweeter than cow’s milk. IIFC from the “Friends” episode, one character compared it to cantalope juice. Yeah, whatever.), but based on the many resources that give it as one more reason to breastfeed: it exposes the child to a variety of flavors from the beginning, rather than the one flavor of formula, and so the child is less likely to be a picky eater later.
I’ve had friends whose babies refused to nurse after their mothers had eaten spicy or garlicy food. My son was always enthusiastic about drinking what nature provided, and is now in a stage in which he will only eat plain pasta, no sauce, no cheese. So much for the variety of flavors theory …
In college, I and my then-girlfriend conducted a “you are what you eat” experiment. We obviously weren’t able to test breast milk, but… uh… other body fluids were rigorously examined, with the conclusion that yes, some things you eat affect … uh… how you taste.
Hey, it was in the name of science.
I don’t know what happened to the woman who took it upon herself to nurse another mom’s baby… as I recall, the Commonwealth’s Attorney issued a statement saying she hadn’t broken any laws…
