If so, how did it go? Are they generally reputable businesses? How would you know? Is there one you would recommend? Any details appreciated!
PetMeds heartworm medication. Very good company. They call the vet to confirm the prescription.
I’d try looking on Yelp.

I certainly have done. The ones I have used were “reputable” in the sense that I got what I paid for. Unfortunately, despite the products being dispatched from the UK, I am being proscuted for them even though you would think they were in a grey area due the stuff being dispatched on panamian prescriptions (or in some cases, private UK GP prescriptions) - all of that is arranged through the website btw you buy stuff so you can get what you like.
I do not understand why the UK pharmacies are sending these things out because they are unbelievably easy to trace and will surely be fooked one day.
There are good pharmacy forums you can read for info about which pharmacies are reliable and which are not, but while I will certainly not say to you do not get controlled drugs, ESPECIALLY if you are in a country like America where as I understand it millions are in pain due to doctors being afraid of the DEA, just be careful of the risks and do not believe what other people tell you the law is!
Edit: I can name the above sites but I don’t think it’s a good idea. I certainly won’t name the online pharmacies until after I’m sentenced. I can name the online forum I frequent(ed) most if a moderator says it’s ok.
I get certain prescription medications much cheaper online; some don’t even require a prescription. (Namely tramadol and cialis). I have prescriptions for these meds, and the medicine I get IS the actual medicine, but there is NO need for a prescription. Now I only use these pharmacies for these two medicines, because they are MUCH MUCH cheaper online than through my regular pharmacy; but I really would like to know the legality behind such operations.
I don’t know if this counts, but I use one associated with my insurance provider (UHC.) They deal with the doctor, just like my regular pharmacy, the co-pay gets transmitted automatically to my flexible spending account, and I can get 3 months of pills in one shot. They can get you stuff very quickly if you need it, at an additional charge, but the free shipping approach is pretty fast. They also have an automatic reorder option. Their web site and phone service are both good.
I go to my regular pharmacy for one set of pills more because it is unfair to expect them to survive when I really need them if I don’t patronize them at all.
If by on-line pharmacy you mean a place which spams you for boner pills, then no experience at all.
Good to know about the Tramadol. Please PM me who you use. I use it off-label as it sucks for bad pain.
What sucks for me is that I have to pay for my kids ADHD meds. They cost a fortune. And script or no I can’t find a place that will fill them.
Anyway there is a relatively recent thread on this. I may have even started it.
VetDepot for hyperthyroid medication (which is the same drug that humans use, just at a lower dosage). Very simple process, I created an account and placed the order, which included providing contact information for my vet, and my cat’s name. VetDepot faxed them a form the next day requesting the prescription, and it shipped two days after that. All conversations with my vet were over the phone and I hadn’t even had a chance to ask about dosing instructions, but it was included right on the bottle label, including instructions for when to schedule the follow-up visit. Unbelievably easy, and about 30% cheaper than buying it from the vet, even accounting for the shipping cost.
Are you talking about non-U.S. online pharmacies? Here’s an FAQ from the US FDA. What it doesn’t address, thought, is the reimportation of drugs that were actually developed and manufactured in the U.S., are FDA-approved in the U.S., exported to, oh, say, Canada, and are available in Canada for a fraction of the U.S. price at any number of registered Canadian pharmacies for shipment into the U.S.
Hmm…Concerning.
I would never try to order highly abuseable meds online, stuff like morphine. Because the market is filled with scammers, you are promised to be scammed or sent fake pills.
However you can save a lot of money ordering meds that cannot be abused online, they are often in blister packs too. The profit motive for trying to forge that just isn’t there.
There are boards devoted to reviewing online pharmacies, I’ve never seen a reliable supplier of highly abuseable stuff.
Certainly I am not in the market for narcotics, but it would be handy for me if I could order some meds through the internet. I’m in the U.S., BTW.
I was going to mention the board drugbuyers but they appear to be gone, there are others I am sure. I’d look for forums devoted to discussing online pharmacies and reviewing them, that will give you an idea of who is legit or not.
You’re always taking A risk, that is on you whether it is worth it or not. Like I said the profit motive simply isn’t there for creating fake pills and fake blister packs with embossed foil etc for pills that sell for cents each.
Not so concerning, depending on how well one does one’s homework. Tons of Americans order drugs from Canadian pharmacies with no problems. The brother of a friend of mine (uninsured) has been getting insulin that way for years.
Well if we’re alright with recommending boards by your recommendation of drugbuyers which I was on back in the day, I recommend pharmacyreviewer.com - it’s pretty small community but they know their shit
This is exactly why I am concerned.
I use an online pharmacy and I love it. When their computer calculates that I’m almost out of meds, they automatically mail me more pills and bill my credit card. They email when a prescription is about to expire for permission to contact my doctor for a refill. It’s a national company that AFAIK is only online. Insanely convenient.
Once they get your phone number, they will use it, sell or trade it and you will get non-stop calls which you cannot find any method of stopping.
If you look on line, there are many 100s of headlines of people looking for some method of stopping these constant calls; some people got 20-30 a week for years and many found the only way to stop the calls was changing phone numbers. The calls mainly come fro India and Latin America, so laws where you reside don’t apply.
If you do use one, give them the phone # of some in-law or troublesome neighbour.
My health insurance requires me to use Caremark for my meds; they’re owned by CVS now.
For a long time, they screwed up my orders in one way or another every time I ordered. I finally complained and they assigned us a person to work with directly. We haven’t had a problem since.
Online pharmacy can refer to two different things (and both things have been referred to in this thread):
- Pharmacies which are dealt with the usual way (prescriptions from your doctor, paid via your health insurance).
- Pharmacies in foreign countries where you purchase drugs without a prescription–but which would require a prescription in your country. Your health insurance would not reimburse you. Sometimes Customs intercepts these drugs.
