Have You Ever...?

Yes, I took my kids to visit the Pitt campus when they were in grade school. My daughter was impressed by the Cathedral of Learning and particularly amazed by the Nationality Rooms.

HYE revisited your old high school?

Not since I retired after working there for 30 years!

HYE gone to a high school reunion and felt envious of a classmate?

Yes. After five years, at the reunion, we found that the Big Man on Campus was still the Big Man on Campus, and was still dating the Head Cheerleader. All of us, of both sexes, were envious of him and her. A couple of years later, they married. A few years ago, at a reunion, I found that they divorced, rather acrimoniously. All I could think of was Billy Joel’s “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.”

Have you ever had a meal in an Italian restaurant?

Yes, many many times, especially in NYC’s Little Italy.

HYE lived in a co-ed dorm?

Yes. And if I may say, the ladies were often more boisterous than the gentlemen.

HYE accidently swallowed a bug?

I’ve deliberately swallowed bugs… grasshoppers, bees, ants, etc. These were all canned, plus a few in the wild.

HYE eaten bear meat?

Yes-When I was a young’n it was among the wildlife my father filled the freezer with.

HYE touched a wild animal(in its natural habitat) deer-sized or larger?

No. I’m too scared of the animal attacking me. I don’t go near dogs that might outweigh me.

HYE witnessed an ugly incident at at fast food place?

Is it too much to ask that we give people who might be able to answer “yes” a chance to respond before dumping the current question with a simple “no”?

I witnessed a a nasty fight involving about 10 people at a Wendy’s in Seattle back in the mid 80’s.

HYE gotten free food at a fast food joint?

**To reiterate the game rules, from post # 1, “All answers should be “yes,” followed by the next question.” And then the modification in post 230: "As the OP who has been following the thread, I’ll modify things a bit to allow for “no, but I’ve done something close enough.”

**

Yes, in fact I have a coupon right now for a free Big Mac or other large sandwich. They give them out to blood donors at blood drives in our area so they’re not exactly free–in other words I’ve paid for those Big Macs with my blood

Re. “HYE touched a wild animal (in its natural habitat) deer-sized or larger?”, I’ve been close enough to a fawn to touch it but didn’t touch it, being warned that the doe might be alarmed by smelling my touch on the fawn.

Have you memorized a poem (or part of one) or a speech from a play?

Yes. I do community theatre, so I’ve memorized and performed many lines, speeches, and even songs in musical theatre. I also remember back in school, having to memorize Shelley’s “Ozymandias,” and recite it before the class.

Have you ever auditioned for anything?

(And thanks for reiterating the rules, gkster.)

Yes, I auditioned for plays in high school and college, and got the parts. I also auditioned to play a senior solo in high school, and got that too.

Have you ever performed on TV?

Did hand puppets for a local children’s show called “Milwaukie Station” for a bit.

HYE been the recipient of a surprise party?

Kinda sorta. I walked into my usual watering hole one night, and the place went silent. Then they all shouted, “Spoons!” A little like “Norm!” on “Cheers.”

Apparently, I was “Patron of the Month,” which, in my experience at this pub, I knew was all done in fun. At any rate, I was comped drinks that night, and got lots of best wishes from other regulars. It was indeed a surprise, though.

Have you ever been comped anything?

Yes, I’ve been comped an extra dessert at a restaurant where I’m a regular

Have you been part of the planning for a surprise party and used deception to ensure the surprise?

Yes, with my sisters, for my mom’s birthday quite a few years ago. She seemed surprised (or at least said she was).

HYE been to a surprise party where the surprised person was displeased?

Yes, and I was the surprised party. I wasn’t actually displeased with the idea of a party but I was dead tired and looking forward to nothing more exciting than collapsing in my own bed.

HYE taken a dish to a pot luck meal that was completely untouched when you left?

Yes. I took a pot of my chili to a potluck, only to find that there were five other pots of chili. Mine was so far back in line that it wasn’t touched. Oh well, I got to take it home and eat it all over a few days.

Have you ever cooked chili?

Yes. My venison chili is great. Or so I’ve been told. I don’t eat it. Don’t really feel sorry for Bambi, it just yuks me out. I like my meat from the Market with a nice big USDA stamp on it.
HYE been asked to cook a dish because it is just so good?

Yes, my in-laws always ask “would you please make the flounder again?” every time they come for a visit. I make a mean crab imperial stuffed flounder. The thing is though, I don’t have a written recipe - I just sort of throw it together - so no two of my stuffed flounders are ever the same.

HYE been asked not to make a dish again?
