Yes, I have sung [sic] on stage… many times, in our local Gay Men’s Chorus. And danced too (we have a professional choreographer).

Yes, in both high school and college (including leading roles in Charley’s Aunt and The Seagull).

Yes, I’ve seen The Cherry Orchard and Uncle Vanya. Didn’t like them as much as Ibsen.

Yes, I saw a production of ‘Pirates’ on DVD

Yes, apples, peaches and lots of blackberries.

No, but I’ve seen many fly by or light on nearby bushes and plants.

Yes, I’ve seen similar photos. They are amazing creatures. When I was on Maui, a gecko shared my hotel room with me.
Have you ever gone out to walk/play in the rain, just for fun?
Yes. Back when I was in high school, my friends and I would play a game of football on rainy days. We used the high school field, where grass had difficulty growing due to use by the school teams and gym classes, so things got pretty muddy in the rain. These “Mud Bowls,” as we came to call them were great fun, but I don’t think our parents liked them much.
Have you ever received an upgrade on an aircraft or hotel room, or when renting a car?
Aircraft, no, but yes as to hotel rooms and car rentals. Not often, but it’s happened.
HYE had to fly with an unhappy small child?
I recall being on a flight from London (LHR) to Toronto (YYZ) that had a screaming baby. Thing is, that Baby didn’t scream when Dad was walking and carrying it. The minute Dad sat down, Baby screamed again, and wouldn’t stop until Dad got up, carrying Baby, and started walking. Poor Dad; he pretty much walked from London to Toronto, up one aisle of the 747, and down the other, over and over, just to keep Baby quiet.
Have you ever toured a commissioned Navy ship (any Navy)?
No, but I did tour a decommissioned sub at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, back when it was still free admission.
Have you ever visited a house you grew up in years later?
Yes, in fact 32 years after leaving home, I moved back to help take care of my parents. Now they’re gone but I’m still here, with my husband.
Have you ever lived in a house with a picket fence?
No, but I lived in a house that had a stockade fence with one side painted white.
Have you ever canned veggies grown in your own garden?
Oh yes, many many times as a kid… including jams and jellies.
HYE grown your own pumpkin?
No, but my neighbour grew pumpkins for years. It was fun to look over the fence and watch them grow over the summer.
Have you ever grown peppers of any kind?
Yes.100s maybe 1000s of peppers. My location is particularly well suited to pepper cultivating.
Have you ever made pepper sauce?
No, but I will ask a friend who does do that sort of preserving if she can make me a jar, out of the peppers that I grow. They’re plenty hot, and so far, I only use them in chili.
Have you ever been inside a media office or studio (newspaper, TV station, radio station, or similar)?
I’ve been inside TV stations. As a kid, I was on TV a few times, playing violin, both as a soloist and part of ensembles. I was also on a local spelling bee. And since 1995, I’ve sung in our local Gay Men’s Chorus on TV many times.
I’ve also been inside the offices of the New York Times. Was offered a job there, which I turned down.
Have you ever cut down a full-size tree?
Many, many times. The first house I bought was on a plot of unimproved land. I took down dozens of trees (mostly locusts), burned the small limbs and stacked the rest. When I finished the last tree I could fell safely, I hired a guy to take down the last few remaining.
