My dad taught me to play cribbage 50 yrs ago. I played a lot in college, and I still play regularly. I’ve never seen a 29 point hand. Has anyone actually seen one?
Nope. Not in cribbage solitaire, either.
What is cribbage solitaire?
Simple. You get six cards, deliver 2 to the two card crib. You decide what to discard and you count both your hand and crib. More here. Idea is to go all the way around. I’ve never managed
What cards would you need ? A double double run with 7 8 9? I have only seen 20 that I remember.
You’d need all fives and nobs.
I’ve seen a few 24 point hands in my time. And way too many “19” point hands.
My dad claims he saw a 29 point hand once. He didn’t have it and neither did his opponent, but someone at a nearby game had it.
My dad once got a 28 point hand, though. Not against me. I’ve never seen one.
Highest I’ve ever gotten is 24. Highest ever played against me is a 24 as well. (I.e. double double run of 4 5 6 in any combination of those cards, or 6 7 8 or 7 8 9 with the 7s and 8s being paired).
I once got four 5s and some card less than a 10.
20 points is nice and all, but still…
Best cribbage hand I’ve ever seen was 24 points.
But one time, I came within one 9 of a perfect pinochle hand. That was pretty cool.
I’ve seen 28 point hands a few times. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 29.
The very first time I played Spades, I was dealt a hand of all spades. Even so, I still despise that game.
Never have. I’ve had 24s.
Never!
Plenty of 24s. Since 25, 26, and 27 are impossible, it feels like rarefied air to make the leap to 28 or 29.
I play online all the time the best I ever had was 21. Ideally the average hand for the dealer is 16, and for hand only is 10.
I play with some buddies fairly often. I see 24 hands every ten deals or so. I’ve had a 28 hand. In years of talking to people who play cribbage, I’ve never met anyone who had a 29 hand.
