I find myself in need of a new pair of shoes. Unfortunately, I am an OG punk and very picky about shoes. I will not wear an ugly shoe.
What I want is slip-on sneakers. I don’t like to mess with laces. However, I hate black shoes with white rubber at the bottom, which makes it much harder.
I won’t spend more than, say, $30 for a sneaker because I will wear it almost every day with no socks and wear it the hell out in six months.
I have already ransacked Hot Topic, Ebay, Amazon and Overstock.com. (sheesh! No bargains there!)
I found this good shoe, but the seller is out of stock and not accepting emails. Probably because of the landslide of emails they’ve already got asking when that shoe will be back in stock.
If anyone knows of another Good Shoe for the OG Punk Who Will Wear Them All Day, I will be startled and amazed. (PS: they don’t have to look like the ones in the pic. Just black and Not Ugly.)
I laughed at the Crocs suggestion (because I hate those plastic monstrosities!)… but I really like the Santa Cruz slip-ons. Of course, I’d black out the brand (or redesign the tags).
ps, my skater friends wear nothing but Vans. I get their cast-offs after they “don’t skate right any more”. Since I’m using them for my sport (walking down the street), they work great.
I know I’m getting this wrong from the start because you gave a limit of $30, but I’m gonna make my case anyway.
Keen sandals are made for rafters and hikers; they have several dozen styles from flip-flops to what look like very airy sneakers. I have several pairs that I wore exclusively, without socks, for years without having to replace them due to wear & tear. I have 2 pairs that are over 13 years old; the oldest pair is 16 years old. They are made for people in bare feet. They are solidly built, and can be washed in the washing machine if it’s convenient. They all cost more than $30, many are $100 or more; that’s what a decent pair of shoes costs nowadays. But they last forever, are very comfortable and look great. I’ve worn mine hiking, kayaking & out to dinner at a nice restaurant all on the same day many times. They still look new, too.
I’ve been buying Cross-Trekkers at Payless for the past fifteen years or so. They’re not EXACTLY slip-ons, but I figure that if you can handle a zipper, Velcro straps shouldn’t be a big deal (I often don’t bother fastening mine). Payless charges just north of $30, but Amazon seems to be able to deliver them for under $20.
Belay my last about pricing. You might be able to beat $30, but it looks like you’ll need to shop around.
brujaja, I hope you don’t mind if I piggyback on your thread?
I am also searching for a very specific shoe. The ones I am wearing right now, and the ones before that, met all my criteria, but now these are getting old and I can’t find another pair on the face of the earth.
I am looking for a peep-toe pump with three-inch stacked heels. They should not have any straps around the ankle. Black, brown, or neutral color, for less than $75.
It doesn’t seem like much, but I’ve been keeping an eye out for a couple of years! I see some on Pinterest, but can’t actually track one down to a point of purchase.
