Have you taken down your Christmas tree yet?

Mine is still up. I’ve been thinking about taking it down this week, but I don’t know if I will get around to it. I voted by January 22, so I still have a few days.

Twelfth Nighter, here

I also leave it up through Epiphany, at least in theory, but depending on when in the week Epiphany falls, I will sometimes end up taking advantage of the weekend prior to get a head start. It’s a lot of work (for me) to do all at once on a weeknight, depending on my work schedule.

A few years ago, we were taking a family vacation departing late on Christmas Eve, but still wanted to have a tree at home leading up to Christmas because our daughter was young and very into the whole thing (okay, I liked it too). It was a real tree, and I didn’t want to return to it after two weeks and have to deal with all the holiday take-down plus returning-from-vacation laundry and rushing to go back to work, etc … so I took it down on Christmas Eve. I expected it would be so depressing … and it ended up feeling awesome and liberating and I got to come home to a clean house. I don’t think I would ever do it again unless I had a logistical reason … but I recalled it wistfully this year around December 29 when I felt like I was tripping over decorations and pine needles were everywhere.

:dubious:

Do you run an extension cord into your neighbors house?

Generally we leave it up until Epiphany but this year it had to come down on January 3 because it gets placed in the kitchen and would have been in the way of the people who delivered the new fridge on the 4th :frowning:

I happen to be on vacation in Rome right now, and based on my visit to Saint Peter’s square yesterday, I can attest that the Pope has not yet taken down his Christmas tree.

He plugs the Christmas lights into themselves.

The weekend after Epiphany is usually when our artificial tree comes down. When we had real trees, they often came down around New Year’s Day. We never had a hard set rule and it often depended upon the circumstances.

We just got one for the first time in years about three days before Christmas after my youngest told her OT that we didn’t have one. (We don’t have one because CATS but she didn’t tell her that!) My oldest put it up in her cat-free room and there’s sat until that day. I guess she’s eventually going to pack it away. Maybe. I don’t ask questions around here.

We just moved our Christmas tree out to the backyard, leaving just the lights on it. It’ll stay “alive” through March. We get our money’s worth out of our tree.
