When I was a teenager I had these fake buttons and switches on the dashboard of my car… I think one was for an ejector seat and one was for front machine gun, or something like that. Anyway I’m trying to find stuff for my 17 year old brother for Christmas and his mom (my stepmom) agreed that he would probably enjoy those and think they were funny… problem is I can’t find them. I’ve been Googling everything I can think of and am coming up blank. I tried places like ThinkGeek and Spencer’s, too. Maybe they don’t make them anymore… but I figured maybe someone here had seen what I’m talking about and knew the secret corner of the internet to find such a thing. Pretty please? :::crossing fingers:::
I can’t believe nobody makes them… I just can’t!
Were these specifically labelled buttons, or were they randomly installed switches and knobs with custom labels? It seems like it would be pretty easy to make your own. Look around for a bulk/scrap electronics store - around here I’d go to Addison’s - and go pick up random funky switches (and a BIG RED BUTTON, of course!). A label maker and/or a custom sticker job from kinko’s could complete the set.
You’re the awesome sister.
(if you can pull this off, of course)

I googled “novelty car ejection button.”
Oops! Thanks for fixing it!
The one I remember I think had three buttons - machine gun, laser, and bomb. Each button had a different sound effect. I don’t remember an eject button but this was twenty years ago and I could easily be mistaken. You used to be able to buy them at Spencer’s.
I poked around on google a bit and found a couple asking about them but didn’t find any currently available.
Those look like you’d have to install them into the dash… the ones I had were stick-on.
NOVELTY! That was the word that was eluding me. For the life of me I could not think of that word during my search. That goes to a giant button that goes in the cup holder, though, not a realistic and functional looking button on the dash.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who helped me look. I kind of think they don’t make them anymore… but anyway I talked to my dad this morning and mentioned I was looking for them and he thinks that my brother might take his car “too seriously” to put buttons like that on it anyway, so I’m getting him something else. Though I’d seriously still consider putting some in my own car if I could find them!
Here’s a novelty nitrous button/plate that sticks to the dash.
Not exactly what you are looking for, but a few of these from Archie McPhee’s might work.
Not really what I was looking for, but I’m not looking for it anymore anyway. My dad thinks that my brother takes his car too seriously to put silly switches and buttons in it. (See post #9)
Since the OP no longer needs help with this, I’m closing the thread.
