HBO Cathouse: How much do those girls REALLY get paid (per customer)?

I hadn’t seen this show in a while, but I caught it tonight. On a couple of different occasions, the girls mentioned they would get $2000 - $5000 per customer. At another point the show claimed the customer parted with $3600. The acted like this was normal, not some kind of whale.

I say bullshit. For one, the girls aren’t that pretty. We are not talking Playboy grade here. Second, a lot of the customers they film (at least tonight) are young guys, some looked military (had dog tags); not the kind of guys with that kind of coin to burn. Third, there are other legal brothels in Nevada. Competition promotes efficiency you know. Fourth, if I wanted to pay for sex and had $5000 to spend, I’d by flying to Rio or Amsterdam, where you can have fun with a Playboy quality girl for ~$100, or so I’m told.

So, anybody know what the real deal is? Prices aren’t on the website.

Charlie Sheen testified that he used the services of Heidi Fleiss’ hookers no fewer than 27 times for a total of $53,000.

Maybe they knew he’s rich so they got what they could out of him!

Here’s one data point I found:

This makes more sense to me than the scenario presented in the OP. Let’s face it: No woman wants to think of herself as a 2 (hundred) dollar whore.

As far as Charlie Sheen goes, I would guess that he was using a top flight hookers and that they made out-calls for him. Not to mention that he was purchasing services illegally. Logically, all of these things ought to add to the price.

Here’s a menu from the Chicken Ranch in Nevada. I have a buddy who frequents such establishments on a regular basis, and it’s negotiable but it’s still insanely expensive. Full on intercourse will generally run you $2000+. They start really high and work their way down, all while sitting in the customers lap and being as arousing as they can. Not exactly a power negotiating position for someone horny enough to be paying for it in the first place.

When I lived in Vegas in the late 80s / early 90s the “menu” from one of the name brand places was commonly in circulation on the Strip. At that time, oral went for ~$100 and full up intercourse was ~$150.

They had lots of add ons (“you want fries with that??” takes on a whole new meaning… the mind boggles)

As best I recall, I once decided it’d take ~$500 to have a memorable experience worthy of the drive, rather than just a quickie like you could get in town from any drug-addled corner-walker.

I have to assume inflation & scarcity has bumped the prices a bit in the intervening 15+ years.

Out of curiosity, what type of taxes are there on legal prostitution? The gov’t seems to like sin taxes, and since I imagine the state of Nevada has to have some sort of regulatory agency that keeps tabs on these places and make sure the prostitutes are getting tested for STDs and the like, I imagine they’d want to re-coup the expense via taxes. On the other hand, I can see voters not being crazy about the gov’t making money off brothels.

I will challenge you on one- Isabella Soprano. She is flippin’ awesome!

Because guys in the military who have been on a ship or in Iraq for the last 8 months where they couldn’t spend any money don’t have that kind of coin to burn? :dubious:

Also, are you asking how much the guys pay, or how much the girls get?

The places in northern Nevada are cheaper, IME (which is 7+ years old). I don’t think I spent more than $100 on an “encounter.” When we were passing through Winnemucca in 1992, a friend of mine got oral sex for $20 at a brothel (of course, he did it by telling the sexworker that his buddy–that’d be me–would make up the difference  ). When I lived in Vegas, I made the trip to Pahrump and, IIRC spent $300-400 for a half and half, but that was twelve years ago.

Given my experiences I’ll suggest:

  1. Some of the women hold out for high dollars and will refuse a customer who wants a low-cost roll in the hay.
  2. It depends to some extent how busy the brothel is that day.
  3. Some are willing to make all kinds of crazy deals and, er, make it up on volume.
  4. There’s probably a weak correlation at best between the attractiveness of the woman and her willingness to take thrifty customers.

Oh, I don’t doubt that a young enlisted guy could have that kind of money, I’m just saying that it would take a long time for them to earn it, as it would any young working guy. I would think that they would want to get the most “bang for their buck” which would probably mean going whorring in TJ or something.

I was just pointing out that the customers on the show weren’t the kind of guys who you would find betting $5000 on a hand of blackjack and wouldn’t really care about the money.

And I was talking about how much the customer has to lay out.
