Even still, the looks of Jason Alexander were discussed even though he doesn’t trade on his looks.
Yes he does, absolutely. He may still be ugly but he’s more attractive after he gets in shape.

I realize this attractive enough pissing contest is within the scope of the thread, but you guys do realize you’re debating the relative attractiveness of these two people, right? Looks are subjective and all, but as far as I can see they’re both pretty much on the same level. He works out and she doesn’t. That’s about the only difference I can see. She’s not fat, she’s just not fit. Then again, I also don’t think the other girls are a size “Hollywood ZERO!” so many people on the dope like to talk about.
For me the most ridiculous part of the show so far is that this guy who is now suddenly her boyfriend wanted nearly nothing to do with her in the first six episodes. In a few of the first ones her friends gave her the shame face for even talking about him while reminding her that he never calls her, rarely texts her back, and only lets her come over to his apartment when he was horny. When we saw them on screen together he was dismissive, somewhat cruel and fairly weird with her. Now we’re supposed to just accept that he wants to be around her all the time and paper a cinder block wall in “SORRY” to impress her? I’m not buying it.
When you get to write your own fairy tale, you get to tame the bad boy and bring him home.
The explanation was somewhat plausible. Though I didn’t buy it entirely either, I buy it just enough to go with it.
I’m buying it for now, but I won’t buy it if it goes on like this for very long.
Trust me, for the ugly and weird, any dude doing anything remotely sweet towards you can be a real turn on.
Every time I see Adam I think “Gilligan.” Anybody else?
A little more Maynard G. Krebs.
At first I didn’t buy the “I always really liked you” bullshit either but then Adam is so erratic and borderline schzo, his big swing from dismissive and disinterested to boyfriend wasn’t such a big deal.
Hannah doesn’t think that being a good friend is a priority right now? What a bitch.
The fight between Hannah and Marnie is one of the few scenes in the series so far that has rang true with me and my experience of once being a girl that age. The pent up annoyances that girls hold on to that finally just come spilling out in the worst way.
If I had to relate to anyone on that show, I do a little with Marnie. I had a friend who was a bit like Hannah (not the caricature the writer has created, a toned down version) and she was like that. Marnie didn’t really want to talk to Hannah but since Hannah wanted to fight, they were going to fight. She followed Marnie from room to room to keep it going and ratchet it up the anger.
Everyone has good points and bad points but I’ve got to agree with Acsenray, Hannah is a bitch.
They’re both self-centered. They’re both right. I didn’t know who’s side to take. I guess the one who pays all the bills has the higher ground.
What is Hannah right about?
Marnie is also pretty darn self-involved, going on and on about her boyfriend whose touch disgusts her and then pining away for him after he dumps her.
He didn’t dump her. He tried to dump her being understandably upset when he found out his touch skeeved her. And then she begged him to take her back. Begged and begged and fucked him in order to get him back. And then, when his touch skeeved her in the middle of sex-- she dumped him.
I’m sorry. There is no excuse for what she did to him. She deserves every bit of anguish she’s going through.
Oh right, I forgot about that. That make s her pining away even more insufferable.
Oddly enough I like her character, but that’s probably just because I’m so shallow.
Count me in the, I-like-this-show crowd. My guy also thinks it is funny. I must agree that Shoshanna is my fav but I enjoy all of the characters.
I have to say, of all the insufferable, annoying characters on this show, both male and female, Marnie is the one who annoys me the most.
I’m kind of annoyed - I caught onto this show kind of late so I’m trying to go back and watch them On Demand (Comcast). I watched episode 1, episode 2, and then … no episodes 3 or 4. They have all the rest of them up (5-9, of which I’ve seen most), but are missing 3 and 4! Annoying.
I realize she’s supposed to be annoying to serve as comic relief (inasmuch as a half-hour comedy show needs “comic relief”), but I find her character nearly unbearable. It’s like they made a rough prototype of a female android with a brain powered by an AOL chatroom.
If you have Comcast, do you have a way to access HBOGO, either via a tablet, iPhone, or Xbox? I think you can also just go to www.hbogo.com and access it there, if you have a cable subscription w/ HBO added (and it sounds like you do).
HBO GO will let you watch any episode of just about every series HBO has put out over the last 10-15 years.
Good idea, I’ll try that.
