I’ve just thrown away all my money on a 44" widescreen LCD HDTV with all the knobs and whistles possible*. On the few channels available, (four of which are PBS) it’s amazingincrediblewowiveneverseenanythinglikeitbefore. I doubted the hype that said you could see fans’ expressions as the Lakers tumble out of the NBA finals. I was wrong to doubt. Earlier I caught Terminator 3 in all its 5.1 glory. It’s even more magnificently dumb than it was before.
My father was in for a new TV. Like a moth to the porch light, I was drawn to the 60 inch Hi-Definition Hitachi projection. It didn’t take much to convince dad what the “right” choice was. It has been a great investment. DVD’s are crystal clear, even with your face pushed on the glass.
Ah yes…not LCD, but I have my 65" hi-def widescreen projection.
Note to those shopping for a big-ass TV: Before I owned this, I didn’t think it was possible – but 65" is too fricking big.
No fun having to rent a forklift for two different moves, because this thing does not deal well with stairs. :smack: I really wish I would have went with the 62" model.
You have to be the first guy here on the boards who has ever wished for something to be 3 inches smaller.
I am waiting for the price to sink a little further…like maybe 85 percent cheaper. I figure in 5 years there will be decent sized HDTV flat screens under a thousand dollars. Of course, I do have that California lottery ticket on the bedroom dresser drawers, so who knows if I have to wait that long.
I got a 50" plasma HDTV last month. Unbelievably amazing. I get all the Red Sox home games, and could actually recognize the governor sitting in the 5th row on a closeup of the batter at the plate.
I’ve had a 40" tube-type for the last year and a half and have never seen an HD broadcast on the thing yet - but I’m getting HD cable the end of this month. I can hardly wait…
I kinda wished I would have held out for a plasma tho…this set weighs in at 300+ pounds.
XBR Wega? Got one of those myself. I’ve forgotten what scan lines look like. Progressive-scan DVDs are amazing. I don’t have any HD broadcast sources available.
