He has to free the J6ers, right?

Why have one army when you can have two? One for the official stuff and another for the shady stuff that professional soldier types won’t do.

Could charges be filed against J6 defendants in other states? Like Virginia or Maryland if they booked hotel rooms in? Would that make it a felony conspiracy charge or something like that. Because they booked the room and then stayed the night before in Maryland or somewhere other than DC (federal jurisdiction); with intent on committing a criminal act? Also could they be charged with wire fraud if they use online booking services? Or if they lived in say California, could their home state file charges since the conspiracy to commit was initiated in that state? Sort of like how if you go overseas to do something involving an underage person, you can be charged here in USA with the crime even if the crime didn’t take place here in America?

Didn’t you listen to our Great Leader? There was no violence. It was a “day of love.”

He should test out what “official acts are by definition legal” means by issuing an official pardon on day one with a corresponding price list: “1 to 30 days = $5K, 31 days to 3 months $15k” and so on. Cash only, in advance.

They’re of no value to him now that he’s re-elected. He won’t give them a second thought, let alone a pardon.

At 5K per month? Are you kidding? This is Trump, man.

I think pardoning the J6 rioters is the kind of showy, attention-getting move he loves to do. He doesn’t give a crap about them in any way, but it’ll get everyone talking about him and get a lot of praise from his followers. And he just has to do one blanket pardon so it’s not even that much of an effort.

I don’t know how many individuals he will bother to pardon, but being able to do one big thing that gets a lot of headlines is totally his style.

You don’t think he sees any value in a showy move owning the libs? Getting publicity and sticking it to his enemies seem among his highest priorities.

You could say the same about RFK Jr, but Trump came through with the payback there.

If Trump (or Susie Wiles) really thinks there could be a political cost to issuing pardons, he’ll at least commute the sentences of those now serving.

He had a chance to pardon them four years ago and he didn’t.

He likes insurrectionist militias that didn’t get captured.

My answer is that being convicted of 34 felonies, and then shot, radicalized Donald Trump. However, you make an excellent point. If Trump is hoping for something he has mentioned many times — third term — he might think he needs to throw them under the bus again.

P.S. Third term? I am hoping it is premature to set up a thread on issues such as whether the 22nd amendment is self-executing. But eventually we’ll need it.

There will be no 3rd term. He will make it through 2 years. Who knows what then. He is not in good shape, drags his foot from a stroke a few years back. Maybe the makeup will come off soon.

Trump has nothing to lose, and everything to gain by pardoning these terrorists. After all, the American voters selected the leader of this coup as President. IMHO, he’d be in far more trouble politically if he failed to pardon the Jan 6 terrorists.

Not in any way that he gives a shit about. What are they gonna do, not vote in 2028? His name won’t be on the ballot, he doesn’t care.

Nobody was convicted while he was in office. I don’t think anyone was even arrested yet. Pardoning unnamed people for possible crimes isn’t exactly a straightforward pardon. That kind of constitutionally murky action he would save to use on himself. Pardoning those convicted of federal crimes is as easy as a stroke of a pen. You know every one of them is going to petition for a pardon. Turning them down will make him look bad to his worshipers. He’s going to look like a hero and do it before he’s even asked.

That didn’t bother Carter when he pardoned the draft-dodgers.

“I don’t care about you. I just want your vote. I don’t care.”

You are sure Trump will not be on the 2028 ticket. There’s an excellent chance you are correct. But he keeps on talking about third term. Some say it is a joke. But how else is he to stay out of jail? Trump would not see spending his declining years, trapped in the UAE, as a good alternative.

So, he’ll pardon the 1,200 January 6 convicts, if only because some are from states that block felons from voting. Could be wrong, but that’s my prediction.

It now looks that his most confirmable appointees (Bessent, Rubio, Makary) are the type who will go slow on the MAGA/MAHA agenda. Pardons are a way to convince his campaign contributors they got something for their money.

50% of US electorate voted for the Jan 6 coup leader so I don’t think he wants to pi$$ them off, regardless of the fact this is Trumps last term.

Are you sure it’s his last term?

Because I’m not.

He will free them all because MGT will tell him they are really “political prisoners.”

And he can use them as his personal militia.

Trump talks about a lot of things he can’t do and has no intention of doing. This isn’t a new phenomenon. Remember “if I’m president Crooked Hillary will be in jail”?

He doesn’t care about his campaign contributors. He got what he needs from them and now they have nothing else to offer.

He’d probably think not pardoning them is funny.

Just because he won an election doesn’t mean he isn’t still mentally and physically deteriorating. Even if he could somehow get around the Constitution (which he can’t) he’ll be in no shape to run four years from now.
