He has to free the J6ers, right?

Yeah, that’s why a smart attorney will word it very carefully. “If you committed an act of violence with bear spray, spears, or etc. in your hand, you’re out of luck. Everyone else, it’s your lucky day.”

None of that “you’re just as guilty as the guy who pulled the trigger” stuff.

I think Trump needs the adoration the same way he needs to respond to countless petty insults that a normal adult would just ignore. It’s a compulsion.

The guy that plans the robbery, and drove the get-away-car is more guilty than those that went into the bank.

And I still believe trump is guilty of manslaughter in the deaths of she who got shot, and she who got trampled to death.

Go easy on that. He slipped below 50% of votes cast recently and is still dropping, thanks to California. And, of course, 50% of the electorate is not the same as 50% of Americans.

I mean, it’s still depressing that he could be elected dogcatcher, much less President, but let’s not make Republican talking points about mandates for them, right?

trump does not keep his promises and to him “loyalty” is a one way street. He had the chance from Jan 6-19th 2021, but he didnt lift a finger.

Mind you he may pardon some high profiles ones.

Exactly.

Those incompetent idiots are scattered all over the country. They aint no army. And they make F Troop look like the Special Forces.

It also tells the legislators that, having stirred up a mob once to interfere with their business via violence, he’s more than capable of getting those loyal to him to do the same thing again.

And when you see those Republican senators who voted for acquittal four years ago, remind them that they had their shot and wimped out. They made their bed, and now they have to lie in it.

Very true, but presidential pardons aren’t subject to those types of legal principles. He can tailor a pardon virtually any way he’d like, which would include pardoning gunmen, but not getaway drivers or planners, or vice versa.

Nor is Harris 48.4% support necessarily of “all” Americans. Agree, the numbers might be better or worse for each candidate, but about as accurate a representation of how Americans feel at the time of the election. No matter how one looks at it, half of Americans want the domestic terrorists to be let off the hook.

He has better than that - he has 50 state militias that he can call upon, under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution: “The President shall be commander in chief…of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States.”

Which are the National Guard. When Federalized, they are integrated into the Department of Defense and the corrsponding armed service chains of command. They don’t become a personal army, any more (or less) than the standing formations of the full-timed armed forces.

The National Guard has answered the call to defend our nation a number of times, but I think making extraction squads out of them might be asking a bit much. Unless they’re watched like hawks, a lot of them will come back to headquarters empty handed. The motivation to excel at this project would be nonexistent. Most NG is just a bunch of guys, not incipient Gestapo.

Half of all Americans didn’t even vote in the Election. More precisely, 34% of eligible voters didn’t vote at all. So saying that half of Americans support Trump isn’t really accurate at all. Only 21% of the population voted for Trump.

Oh, never mind

There aren’t that many. Most States just have the National Guard now.

Right. Some few states still do have a State Militia- Texas for example.

True for any election, but the ones that vote are the ones that count- and public opinion polls do show overall public opinion. Nor do i really care what a pre-schooler thinks about American Politics.

More accurately, the ones who are eligible to vote are the ones who count.

One of my sisters is National Guard. I can’t imagine her being gungho about round-up-the-Mexicans duty.

I am so shocked and saddened. I thought atleast it’ll be put on hold for the next 4 years and then the case can be revived.
The judge dismissed the case on the recommendation of Jack Smith.

The case was “dismissed without prejudice,” which means it could be reinstated after Trump leaves office.

Those state militias are just that, part of the state. They are not connected to the federal military at all and can not be federalized.
