The Phillip Rivers/Vincent Jackson combo certainly paid off this week. And Marshawn and Bush came up big (surprisingly to me at least).
I eked out a much needed win this week, despite having Andre Johnson and Darren McFadden out due to injuries. Thank heavens Darrius Heyward Bey gets surprisingly benched, it’s CJ’s bye, and Ryan Torain falls to the curse of Shanahan.
I really didn’t expect to see Marshawn put up a lot of yards this week, though I’m much more bullish on him overall than most (as I’d have to be to give up the most consistent player in fantasy for him). The Seahawks stuck with the run even when they were down by 14 in the fourth quarter, which was huge.
Reggie has slowly been getting more and more involved in the 'phins offense; the coaching staff has basically had to learn how to use him properly. No matter how well he plays, we all know he’ll never be a conventional tailback. The trick is getting him the ball outside the tackles (like the end around he ran yesterday).
Yahoo waivers kick in Sunday but Thursday players are considered on waivers once they kick off. Instead of sending emails, just wait until Sunday to sign them via the regular waiver system. I’ll undo Thursday signings without penalty.
Up by 0.80 going into tonight, I’ve got Jennings and Finley… should I be cheesy and bench both of them? Nah, if I did, I could always get burned by a stat correction.
I may wind up in 2nd place after this week, depending on how Harvin and the GB defense do for Hamlet. Not bad, considering the hole I dug for myself.
Because people are very paranoid about dropping players and losing potential keeper candidates at this point in the season, especially for an old guy with Rex Grossman prominently involved.
Santana Moss? On a team that looks like it’s going to go 5-11? With Grossman or Beck as his QB? Yuck.
The schedule isn’t bad - NE, and Minnesota & a rolling-over Eagles team the last two weeks. But even when he was healthy Moss was only the leading receiver once, and didn’t even get to 70 yards. Davis is probably the only Redskins I’d want…
In other news - man, talk about a log-jam. 10 teams within two games of the top. Theoretically I guess damn near everybody has shot at a top-four finish?
My ‘aging’ Baltimore defense has outscored everybody else on my team except my QB…
I hate being in so many leagues that I’m both excited and sad that Marshawn Lynch is tearing it up tonight. I’d rather win this week in this league, so I’ll go with sad.
True, W-L doesn’t necessarily equate directly to fantasy season relevance (Steve Smith is the third-rated WR on a 3-8 Carolina team). The difference is, Carolina has a pretty good QB, but they’re 3-8 because they couldn’t stop my grandmother from running for 220 yards and two TDs. Washington is going to go 5-11 despite a reasonably good defense because the offense is horrible (one of the worst in the league in rushing) and the QB play varies between questionable (Grossman) and horrible (Beck). And you’d probably expect a team to be relatively careful with a 31yr old skill position player in a meaningless season.
