At one point, I for some reason thought Larry Storch had gone to that Big Fort in the Sky after doing an episode of ***Columbo ***in the '70s. Imagine my shock to see him on an episode of Married … with Children twenty years later. And now I hear he still hasn’t passed on yet? Wow!
Keith Richards and Iggy Pop.
I recall a mention on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me that started with “when Keith Richards dies, if, indeed, he can die…”.
Well, I did. OTOH Joanne Woodward is still alive at 88. Her last credit at IMDb is some voice work from 2013. A movie I have watched.
Which reminds me of Eva Marie Saint, recently turned 94. With the death of Martin Landau she’s the last remaining significant actor remaining from North By Northwest. Her last credit is also some voice work from 2014.
Never thought I’d say it, but Iggy is looking better at 71 than I ever will.
Roy Clark is still alive.
He was a household name 40 years ago. Ask any young’n who is, and you will get a blank look in response.
Probably not well-known to the general public - but my local orchestra is playing a piece of music by the composer Penderecki, and they worked with him on it, and I hadn’t known the composer was still alive.
This amazes me, since he is (or maybe was) a very heavy smoker, something he once mentioned in an interview. He felt very uncomfortable smoking when he was in character as a Granny-type older woman on The Beverly Hillbillies.
Last night, I was noodling around on You Tube, and found a 2016 interview with Jake Glaser, son of Elizabeth Glaser, who died of AIDS in 1994 after getting it from a blood transfusion and then inadvertently infecting both of her children, and Paul Michael Glaser, who was a co-star of “Starsky and Hutch”. They interviewers kept referring to his father in the past tense, so I looked him up, and sure enough, he’s still very much alive.
I frequently have the opposite situation. When Erin Moran of Happy Days died, I was confused, because I was sure she was already dead. I tested my best friend and asked, “Who else is alive that I need to know about?”
BRIAN BLESSED is Aliiive!
Dad, long gone, would play her |We’ll meet again," ala Dr Strangelove, before each mission.
He is my god and has been for decades.
Detes?
lorene is alive! Always a pleasure to see her.
It’s surprising how many cast members of I, Claudius are still alive. The series was broadcast forty-two years ago and its cast were all adults back then. But Derek Jacobi, Brian Blessed, Sian Phillips, Patricia Quinn, Ian Ogilvy, Kevin McNally, Patrick Stewart, Sheila White, Christopher Biggins, David Robb, Fiona Walker, Frances White, James Faulkner, Christopher Guard, and John Rhys-Davies are still alive.
Tom Cruise is now older than Wilford Brimley was in Cocoon.
I knew Tommy Lasorda was still alive but I didn’t realize he was 90! He’s been on and off my Celebrity Death Pool list since I started playing. (hastily updates 2019 list)
I got confused today because they were playing Casey Kasem’s show on the radio, and I thought he was dead. So then I thought, Oh, I’ll have to post that to the thread. But I just looked it up, and he’s dead. So. There it is.
Jim’s son mentioned John Astin. He is the sole surviving male to have played a villain on the 60’s Batman show.
Speaking of Batman, Glynis Johns is still alive at 94; she played Lady Penelope Peasoup.
Orson Bean is 90 today.
