One of those “famous for one thing” types, he hosted Mastermind for 25 years, but then those who know the name won’t need to know that.

At first I thought you meant this Magnus Magnusson … .

It was only recently that I found out that Magnusson was an English-style surname adopted when the family lived in Edinburgh while Magnus was young, and that his father’s first name wasn’t Magnus. For many years I guess he must have been the only Icelander most of us had ever heard of, and he was certainly iconic in his one famous field of endeavour. (He fronted one or two other programmes from time to time, but nothing with the durability of Mastermind.)

I thought it was about the strongman as well.
