A friend of mine raises pigs, and recently (within the last 2 weeks) has 2 litters(?-I hope that pigs indeed have litters…).
A total of 18 piglets were born, and 8 of them (1 from 1 sow, 7 from the other sow) have the odd mannerism of walking around and shaking their heads. The only times that the odd mannerism stops is when they are asleep or nursing.
They were checked out by the vet, but he had no clue. He thinks it may be something genetic being passed along by the boar.
Any porcine experts out there that have heard of this behavior?
(You have no idea what kind of weird websites come up with “pig”, “head”, “shaking”! Even adding “vet” and “porcine” did not help)
