Pop star Moby (who really does trace his roots back to Herman Melville) is starting a book club of sorts as part of his current tour: ‘‘When someone finishes a book, they put it in a little box and when someone else wants a new book, they look into the box and find one,’’ he said. Wow, somehow I never thought of literary pursuits as being on the same par with…snorting ants?!?

Hey rjk , thanks for the BookCrossing site. I hadn’t heard of it, but it looks fascinating.
I’ve been taking the ant-snorting thing on face value, but someone suggested to me that it was some kind of metaphor for cocaine. Does anyone know if that’s true? I hope not–it’s much more pleasing if he means real ants.
Well…I’ve spent most of my life having sex and reading books, so by his logic, perhaps it’s time I look into this ant snorting thing…?

No, it’s quite true.
There was a bit about it on the Behind The Music episode about Motley Crue .
It seems the Crue were on tour with Ozzy and they all piled off the tour bus one day, and spied a trail of ants and Nikki Sixx dared Ozzy to snort them.
REALLY dumb move.
Ozzy did snort them.
