Are you questioning why Samuel Bak titled his painting “Thou Shalt Not Kill” instead of “Thou Shalt Not Murder?” If so, you’ll have to ask him. Murder is still (despite Mr. Bak’s painting) the correct translation.

One quibble: I noticed that Artscroll Publications used “kill” and not “murder”, and I had a friend of mine ask one of the general editors about it. He said that they considered the issue and decided to go with “kill” because “murder” implies deliberate premeditated killing. Which would imply that an accidental killing is not an accidental sin, but is not included in the commandment at all. Which is incorrect.
Something in that. I guess neither “kill” nor “murder” are completely correct.
