I finally got power back today, here in Jackson MS, and all that I can manage to say is…Well I cant think of anything at all.

Hey Mint Julep. I’m glad you got your power back and are safe. I know things are far from being right even still and I wanted to let you know you and all the rest of Mississippi and Louisiana are in my thoughts and prayers. We’ve got folks over here who fled Katrina. All the hotels are full and the Red Cross has opened one shelter and is planing on opening another. Looks like they’re gonna be with us for a while yet.

Thanks swampbear, we have a family with kids coming to stay with us too. They lost everything, so I feel very fortunate and happy to help.
I think I am going to donate blood tomorrow. I am sure that is something that will be needed.
I met a lady at a gas station who had fled after the storm hit NO and she had her elderly mother and 4 pets with her. 2 of her beloved cats were dying as she left LA and she had to stop at an emergency vet and let them be put to sleep. She was sobbing hysterically and said they were like her babies, but they were dying right in front of her. Her other cat and dog in the car were doing okay she thought…Her mom was ill though and appeared to be in bad shape too.
She asked me to try to contact some of her relatives, which I did, and they were over-joyed to hear she was alive.
I hope she is doing well wherever she is now.
