In my defense, if you look through the thread and paw through the comments made by others, you’ll find that roughly half the comments that address this issue say something like “Well, the Pit is the place for this conversation”… The other half says “If you wanted an honest discourse, why didn’t you post in XXX?”
Fact is, the people on this thread have, for the most part, shown themselves to be as equally as “hateful” as they accuse me of being. They can’t even agree where this simple subject is supposed to go, but they sure can congratulate themselves on being soooo witty, smart and outright hostile to someone like me…
All for the sake of an opinion.
Which is worse? To dislike a group of people because of their very real actions as a group (and do nothing to them), or to heap piles of abuse on someone because they have a differing opinion?

According to your post on that other board, your son and his friends were playing in the snow with the trebuchet when they spotted a black boy walking toward them. They proceeded to hurl high speed snowballs at him. You laughed and bought them pizza as a reward. You claim in this tread to only dislike blacks and leave them alone when they do you no harm. How is this sort of behavior just holding an opinion without causing harm?

Depends on the opinion. A particularly stupid, destructive opinion, such as yours, deserves much abuse. And you didn’t “do nothing to them,” by your own admission. You took and continue to take pleasure in your sister’s humiliation of a black person, you encourage your children to assault them, and you participate in a message board that is apparently a festering pile of hate (I didn’t go there, because I fear having to scrub my brain with steel wool).
I think your lack of empathy plays a huge role in your problem, though, as well as your lack of critical thinking skills, in that you can look at a whole lot of evidence (behavior of your fellow humans, black, white, etc.) and come to an entirely wrong conclusion. My mom did the same thing, actually. She holds many of the same opinions as you do. But, I don’t heap abuse on her. Know why? Because she doesn’t go to places like chimpout.com, she doesn’t laugh at people being humiliated, and she’s an otherwise compassionate, wonderful person who actually tries to make the world a better place, in small ways, like, for instance, mentoring a black girl in the Big Sisters program.
So, I forgive her. You? Not so much.
