I’m not prolific enough around here for anyone to particularly care, but, just for the sake of etiquette, here goes:
Let it hereby be known that the poster formerly known as Da Ace shall, now and in perpetuity, be referred to and named G.B.H. Hornswoggler.
Any possible confusion with other posters with “Ace” in their usernames (such as the new, but estimable, Ace Face) are now moot. But I do hope I’ve not just adopted myself into a previously-unknown “Hornswoggler” clan.
Gifts, mementos, and other trinkets will be accepted in celebration of the name change, starting immediately and continuing as long as I can milk it.
I mentioned in a different thread that I was considering “making the switch”. Slythe did it, so did Stoidela (you’ll NEVER recognize her now :D))
Dadgummit, now I’m definately gonna think about considering it myself!!
oh, “welcome”, Nasal T. Lardbottom, or whatever the hell you call yourself.
N.B.: What’s with the lengthy names? Am I on the trailing edge of pop fashion? Should I change my screen name to something like “IOnceWasSpritleButNowI’mSomeoneElseSoStopCallingMeThat”?
…and if you’ve ever had your G.B.H. horn swoggled, you know how painful that can be…
Okay, Ace, if it makes you happy. Now post more frequently, all right? We need more input from editor-types around here, to raise the level of discourse.
My new name has no particular relevance, and doesn’t actually refer to anything. It’s one of a series I’ve used, for silly things, for several years. For my new user name, it was between that and T.X.F. Tumblethwacket, and I chose the one that was marginally shorter. It’s just a pseudo-19th century thing; the idea was to sound like a second-tier riverboat gambler.
Oooh, the Uke-man wants me to post more! Well, I do, too, and maybe I will. I’ve tended to lurk in GQ lately, and there I’ve done more larnin’ than speakin’. Maybe I’ll stay here for a spell, where knowledge is not a prerequisite for posting.
Gol-dern it, the new name is already affecting my writing style…
