Helloooo Mr. Mitchell!!!!

I saw that Jay North - AKA TV’s Dennis the Menace - turned 65 today. My first though - now he knows how Mr. Wilson felt.

My second thought: A show with Dennis trying to enjoy a peaceful retirement, still living in the family home, and being pestered by the great-great grandson or daughter of Mr. Wilson living next door would be fun. Bonus points if he ended up married to Margaret.

You don’t think he’s still wearing those coveralls, do you?

I love when “DtM” strips got the caption mixed up with “The Far Side.” Like this. And this.

Double bonus points if he ended up married to Joey.

He got rid of the coveralls around the fourth season. He still wore a striped shirt, but tucked into a regular pair of slacks.

I liked a satire of a Dennis the Menace cartoon I saw in a MAD Magazine. Dennis comes running into the kitchen with a human skull in his hands.

“Look what I found in Mr.Wilson’s head!”

He might marry Margaret, but he’d be banging Gina on the side.
Margaret would pretend not to know. Cold frigid bitch.

Gina was never in the TV series. And Magaret may have been snooty in public, but like the other Margaret, (Hoolihan) she wasn’t fooling anyone. She was hot for Dennis, he just wasn’t hot for her (yet). Like Dobie, he’d come around in time.

Unfortunately he had a terrible time on set and was abused by his aunt. I found this interview from the 90s where he describes some of it. One bright note. Him and Margaret are still friends.

Truly menacing, as Josh Fruhlinger (The Comics Curmudgeon) would say.
