Hell's Kitchen: Season Finale! 5/14/09

It’s Danny vs. Paula in the season’s final episode! I feel bad for Paula since she got stuck with Lacey (why on earth did they bring her back out of all people?).

Andrea, who is from my town (Reading, PA), watched last episode out at a local bar. Maybe she’ll be out on the town again tonight? How nuts would it be if I ran into her?

Paula is having a Hell’s Kitchen “party” at Club 30-30 in Manhattan. If anyone wants to make a spur of the moment road trip, I’d totally be in!

Anyone want to make a prediction on who will win? I’m going with Paula. She seems more polished as a cook and an overall professional.

I’m also calling it for Paula and I’ll add that Danny doesn’t seem to have enough charisma to work for Ramsay.

Woo! Danny!
Lacey soooo fucked Paula, though. Fuckin’ Lacey. Awesome season, was kinda hoping Ji and Robert would be at the victory party…

They don’t end up working for Ramsay, do they?

Well, saute me surprised. I would have been happy with either winner…and maybe that was the problem with this season. No real pick for winner.

On a different note, Top Chef has initiated another series…Top Chef Masters. I believe it premieres June 10. World-class chefs battling it out for their chosen charity.

I had the feeling Danny was going to win, although I would’ve been happy if Paula had won too. The winners have been male-female-male-female the past 4 seasons; following that line of thought, it was a male’s turn to win this season.

I was so happy for him, though! Just watching him at the end brought tears to my eyes

It looked for a moment like Giovanni was going to fuck up Danny’s service. I guess he’s still bitter about being called a fuckface.

I think the only difference between their last services was that Danny started a bit stronger and established solid leadership and communication straightaway. It took Paula just a little bit too long to hit her stride. By the time she did, Lacey was already well into monkey-wrench throwing mode. Whatsherface cooking the Halibut did not help either.

Seeing as how it was a squeaker, I’m totally cool with the choice. I love that a Florida (sorta) redneck won. (DISCLAIMER: I mean “Florida redneck” with the utmost affection. I live here, too, ya know.)

I would have liked to see more on how the decision was made, how the customers rated them, etc. The whole “dramatic” ending did nothing for me…

I would have liked for either Paula or Danny to win. I liked both of them. I’m glad for Danny since he is the youngest winner yet.

His “restuarant” though was kind of an eyesore. After he gets done in Atlantic City he’ll probably open up his own restuarant and decorate it similarly.

Paula’s “restuarant” on the other hand was beautiful. I would love to eat in a place that looked like that.

Danny is quite possibly the most ungracious winner I’ve seen on reality t.v. I would have been happy for him if he could have refrained from jumping around like a four year old screaming “I won I won”. Seriously obnoxious and indicates a real lack of maturity, IMHO.

Where in FL is he from? I thought I heard mention of Sarasota but boyfriend pegs him for a Panhandler. Also, isn’t Paula also from FL?

Paula is from Coconut Creek, which is East Coast, South Florida.

Danny is from Edgewater, which is West Coast, Central Florida, near the Tampa Bay, St. Pete. area.

Still, I’d have pegged him as a Panhandle Floridian as well, but parts of central FL can be sorta… “country.”

Giovanni is from Destin, FL, which is in the Panhandle. So much for my FL stereotypes.

I’m kinda sorta familiar with Edgewater and I was thinking it was closer to the Daytona Beach area. Definitely not near St.pete, though. And Giovanni? Destin?Hmmm. As long as we don’t have to take responsibility for Lacey.

I thought exactly the same thing. Why didn’t he just turn to Paula and stick his tongue out for better effect. Totally classless…

I agree… she is pretty hot…

I didn’t see Danny’s exhuberance as “in your face”. He could have been smoother about it but it came across to me as “holy cow, I can’t believe I won!!!”

Same here.

I too would have liked to see more information on just how Danny won out over Paula. Ramsay gives us a few sentences per elimination why that person had to go, so I was expecting a few sentences on why Paula didn’t win.

I stand corrected.

I must have Edgewater mixed up with some other city that starts with E. :smack:

I think Ramsay did say. To him, Danny had grown the most and learned the most over the course of the season. Even if Paula was above him, technically, Danny had the greater future.

I think Ramsay tends to select for youth and growth for the show. He’s not really selecting a chef for a restaurant, he’s selecting someone who he thinks deserves a break. The clearest example of this is last year with Christina versus Petrozza. Probably Petrozza should have won, but really he already had his own catering company and was as good as he was going to get. Winning on the show would have been a free chunk of change, but not the start of a career.

Oh duh! I remember now. :smack:
