Hell's Kitchen 3-26

Oh to hell with spoiler space!

Ding dong, Lacey’s gone! That Lacey’s Gone! Ding dong, Laaaaaaceyss goooone! She’s gone where the whiners go–Beeeelow! And off the show! She’s gone where the stupid whiners go!

I was very surprised to see LA go this time though. I really thought that Carol would go. Sometime I would wonder if LA was stoned though, when she’d seem to zone out.

Robert continues to CRACK ME UP.

I was surprised LA went, too. I though for sure Carol was gone and I wonder if Ramsey ws going that way until LA said she didn’t think being loud and communicating was that important. Ramsey really emphasizes that sort of stuff.

For a long time it has seemed to me that Carol accuses Andrea of exactly the things that Carol is doing – blaming others for your mistakes, being a source of discord, etc.

Do other people see it that way? Or am I just prejudiced against Carol because she plucks her eyebrows too much?

As to LA’s elimination. The factors GR cited are true, no doubt, and the others seem right about her not communicating much. But I think a BIG part of her being booted this week was her super-fast decision to sit out the taste challenge. Especially since it was BECAUSE she has no confidence in her sense of taste.

WTF? How can you possibly be a top chef without a good palate? And how can you possibly think you have the ability to lead/inspire/browbeat an entire kitchen if you have so little confidence you’d rather hide in the corner?

Good points. And the fact she said “well, I’m a smoker…”

WTF? They all smoke, it seems (and there was a thread about this whole ‘contestants on cooking shows smoking’ thing before) that EVERYONE smokes. Yeah, if it’s one or two a day as a stress reliever? I can reconcile smoking and cooking…maybe. But a pack a day person? Maybe not.

I was surprised b/c she hasn’t really failed miserably on a service that I remember.

I was actually finishing up cooking dinner in the kitchen myself when I heard the decision and I and my SO were SURE Gordon said Carol. B/c we both went “whaaaa?” when he said “LA take off your jacket.”

I think I mentioned this before, but how can any one of them have a decent palate since they all smoke like chimneys?

I don’t care if they smoke. That’s their business and they should be able to enjoy tobacco products until their hearts are content.

And I still don’t see any of them capable to run a important kitchen at a major restaurant. Just my opinion.

I’m thinking Giovanni and Paula are top candidates for the final two. Look at how little screen time either of them gets. Which matters, because most of the time is devoted to Ramsey yelling at whoever screws up.

So, this time apparently Paula made a bad risotto, followed up with a perfect one, and apparently did nothing else to draw Ramsey’s ire all service.

And Giovanni? I don’t think a single word was said to his discredit the whole show. And maybe for several others. And the other men referred to him as the ‘best of our team’ when Ramsey sent him to the women’s team.

Of course, Lacy was sucking up a huge amount of the screen time for weeks. Maybe we’ll see more of the low key ones now that she’d finally gone.

The real young guy (Danny?) seems to fly under the radar too.

I wanted to like Robert, because he was so obviously dissed by Ramsey for being fat (“I’m sorry, you can’t ride on the helicopter - you can spend your whole day trying to reach the rest of us”. I bet he’d rather have been allowed to sleep in and relax all day) but I hate Robert’s mouthiness and attitude. At this point, Giovanni is the only one I’d like to see win.

I still can’t believe Lacey lasted this long. Gordon gave her *so *many chances, few of them deserved. Even after he told her to initially leave the kitchen, he talked to her, invited her back, and gave her one last try. The second time he asked her to leave, she didn’t come back (except for her tearful goodbye).

You know what, though? I felt bad for her. When she talked about the advice her mother had given her, and how she wasn’t able to follow through with that advice (try not to make enemies), it really struck me as a change of heart. She used to be anything but modest and humble, and always defensive, but this time, she really sent the message that not only did she let herself down, but she let her mother down as well.

L.A. was a solid cook. Sure, she didn’t show as much emotion as say, Andrea or Carol, but most of their emotion is agitation and frustration. L.A. always seemed cool, calm, and collected. As far as I can remember, Gordon never *really *ripped into her during a service (at least not to the extent of Colleen or Jay, or even Andrea or Carol). Could she run a kitchen in the Borgata Hotel Casino? Probably not, but she could certainly work in one. I didn’t get the impression that she could be an *executive *chef.

As for Giovanni, although he comes off as valiant and sincere (and has solid services to boot), I can’t help but think he has an ace up his sleeve. Something about him gives off mischievous vibes.

My guess for next week? If the Blue Team loses, it’s going to be Robert that goes. Just a hunch. If the Red Team loses, say goodbye to either Colleen or Andrea. It’s too late for reconciliation, and they legitimately hate each other. If somehow they could push their differences aside during service, I’d say they could both have a chance to win this thing. However, their feud and hostilities come out in kitchen, and Gordon is reaching his boiling point.

Also, I just found out that Andrea is from my hometown - Reading, PA. While she’s my least favorite on the Red Team, it would be kind of cool to have a local win it all.

I will say that I remember during one breakdown Lacey saying “I’m not like this!I don’t act like this!”. She sounded almost confused by the way she was behaving. I wonder if the stress, or some mental illness like depression maybe had her acting differently than she normally does. Either way, sho obviously didn’t have the cooking chops to succeed.

Ugh, I hated Lacey from the very first episode when she gave up on the very first challenge. Seriously, if it’s the first day and you’re already throwing in the towel, why are you even there?! I kept laughing whenever she kept yelling she couldn’t cook meat during service, and then later said she would have liked to go on and have a chance to win. Did she really think she could be an executive chef at a big restaurant and not be capable of cooking meat?!

Giovanni (the steakhouse cook) had a rough night on the meat station a few weeks ago, IIRC.

Lacey has a personality disorder of some sort. I don’t believe she just got a bad edit in every single episode. I thought it was very telling that she said in the cab that her mother told her not to make enemies- her mother obviously knows she has a tendency to do that.

She was whiny, incompetent and argumentative all season- other than being good for a reality show, there was no reason to keep her as long as they did. Even a child knows to learn from their mistakes. She would just throw her hands up, claim she knew nothing, and stomp off to have a smoke.

Thinking back, it did seem like Ramsay was never present a majority of the time when her worthlessness shined through. It was often during prep, and when Ramsay finally did see how worthless she was during service, that’s when she got the axe. Perhaps he was genuinely unaware of how terrible she was? Doubtful, but maybe.

I’m pretty sure he watches the footage of the smoking lounge. He’s the all-seeing, all-knowing Wizard.

Seems to me he figured out that he didn’t need to keep that witch for ratings when he has the constant catfight going between Carol & Andrea.

I dunno, I probably want him kicked more than I wanted Lacey gone. I find it disturbing for a man who’s about to be married to be running around calling every woman in sight a “bitch”.

I agree with you 2000% in every particular. Too bad that Lacey was so misunderstood because people assume she’s just a pretty girl that can’t cook  (she actually said this in the first episode).

Robert really needs to get his weight under control, he’s a great guy besides that.

Wow, I haven’t seen that. But I think I missed a couple of episodes.

I was really impressed with the blue team tonight. They’ve culled everyone who can’t hang, THEY GOT RID OF LACEY, and it seems the remaining ones really are good chefs, they just needed some time to adjust to Ramsey’s kitchen.

I like Robert. He’s got a pretty good attitude and he gets a few humorous remarks in. “Does it look like I eat ***** pea tendrils?” He apparently can hustle when he needs to. Ramsey won’t let him win, but I’m glad he’s made it this far.

The red team desperately needs a culling. Too many cooks in one kitchen. Gio & Paula look good. Paula is going to have to start getting louder and showing leadership though. Both Andrea & Carol can go anytime; I’m a little sick of the two of them.

Blue team’s a tough call, but Danny seems to be having an easier time of it than Ben.

Which week do they combine teams?

One thing that confuses me. They make it look like the chefs don’t dare put up a less than perfect dish because it’ll never make it past Gordon or Scott, yet every night a bunch of plates start coming back undercooked, raw, overcooked, etc. How’s all that getting past? Later in the season they’re going to take turns being in charge and they’ll be tested to see if they let something wrong get through. Seems kinda fishy so many substandard plates make it out to the dining room past Ramsey and the sous chefs.

It seems like the sous chefs & JP are around during punishments and prep, so even if Ramsey doesn’t review tapes, I’m sure he gets reports about anything notable going on when he’s not around. There’s no way Lacey went and laid down for six hours and Ramsey didn’t know.
