Hell's Kitchen - 5/20

:frowning: Woohoo! Ramsey abuse starts in just over 3 hours!

Spoiler box (and a bunch of spoiler space) for them that don’t watch previews:

Anybody have a good recipe for a greek salad dressing?

And a coleslaw one, too.
Tonight someone gets a chance to dine on Matt! Nummy.

I mean, dontcha just love the way they’re peering into that pan looking for his finger? I get the feeling some of them would just fish the finger out and go ahead and plate up the rest.

And Jenn gets to become an honorary guy, a move that I think will fatally weaken the women’s team.
I’m just hoping and praying that GR will shut Jen up once and for all.

Gah, every time I see her I want to slap her.

What the fuck happened to the red team tonight?! Seriously, was Jen the backbone of that team the entire time?

I just can’t believe she was. I really can’t stand her in the same way I couldn’t stand Ben from almost day one.

My coworker and I watch this show together (we frantically text during the ep and discuss it to death after at work) and we both agree–we can’t stand ANYONE this season.

I sort of like Louross–I felt he made the right decision to not lie about using the veal when he didn’t on the first challenge. And Petrossi is okay.

I don’t like any of the women left.

I was hoping GR would keep Roseann around just so she and Corey could catfight over Corey’s comment that she doesn’t ever, ever want to work in a kitchen with Roseann again. Ever. (or something along those lines)

Jen needs a smackdown. Seriously.

Man, all of these contestants are such a whiny bunch of crybabies. You made a mistake? Man up, learn from it and move on. Sobbing in the hallway with your head in your hands is hardly the image of a responsible, mature, professional chef that you should be portraying. The casting team screwed the pooch this season.

The only cheftestant I have any respect for is Petrozza. What was it that GR said to him the other week…something about his maturity rising above everyone else’s as well as his graciousness?

Granted he isn’t a ball of fire, but excluding the mini-disaster last night, he does know a thing or two about cooking.

Jen really showed her true colours last night, didn’t she? Of course, Louross didn’t have to allow himself to be bowled over, and could’ve stood up and said he didn’t want to do a surf & turf. On one hand I was pleased that he didn’t lie, which clearly was Jen’s choice. On the other, he had plenty of time to stick the meat on the plate and just. Didn’t. Move. Dithering is not good.

I’m glad I don’t have to listen to Roseann’s horrible voice, but I just want to shake Matty. Man up! And I still can’t tell Corey and Christine apart.

StG

I disagree, think they got exactly the type of chefs they were looking for. Bad chefs make better TV.

I’ll concede that point, but there’s no one to root for. They’re all miserable doofuses (doofi?) who deserve to be ground under Ramsey’s heel.

Oh, and StGermain- Christine is the dopey blond who can’t cook. Corey is the dopey *skinny * blond who keeps stripping to her underwear to lure the guys into the hot tub in an effort to make them go all cross-eyed with her womanly charms so that they can’t remember how to saute garlic.

Wouldn’t Ramsey have noticed the missing veal anyway? I mean, it wasn’t on any other blue team plate.

One time Jen suggested he should lie and say he’d rendered the fat from the veal, and used that fat in making his sauce.

Which struck me as Jen knifing Louross. First, GR would totally know there wasn’t veal flavor in the sauce, and he’d rip LR a new one for lying to him. And even if LR got away with the lie, can you imagine GR’s reaction to doing that? “You cooked the veal, used the fat and tossed out the meat???” Yeah, that would make you look like a total idiot about the economics of running a kitchen.

Much better for LR to let the team as a whole take the loss.

Shut it announcer!

So just what the hell do you have against long pig?

Just askin’

Hey, remember: this is MATT we are talking about. Now, there are some people you might find attractive enough to eat, but is MATT really one of them?

Jen is headed for a spectacular smackdown. Ramsay’s already gotten in her shit about her stank-ass attitude. There is no way in hell she’s going to get to the finals in this show.

Louross got on my fucking nerves with the passive aggressive shit. Yeah, Jen’s a big Black chick. So what? You’re gonna let her talk shit to you because she… well, what, exactly? She’s not going to hit you. She talks shit to you because she knows you’re scared of her. Gah! I wanted him to confront her every time she made her snide-ass comments.

I was actively rooting for a Blue Team loss so we’d be able to get rid of Jen or Louross. A pity that didn’t happen.

And was anyone else as disturbed as I was that someone didn’t say "Hold everything! Find that finger! Break down his station and sanitize the living hell out of everything within six feet! I’m not serving no damned fingers!

Interestingly, Petrozza bears a strong similarity to a guy in my office. Both physically similar and very similar in demeanor - strong, silent, gets it done, and can be counted on in a crunch. Not a bit of flash, so he’s always “just there” but cranking it out. Not sure if that’s Executive Chef material though.

Well, I think Chef Ramsay would have used a stronger word than “damned,” but yeah, I was surprised that things just kept on going. Of course, they might have deleted the cleanup of the station in the editing; but still, I think a lost fingertip in the kitchen would deserve a little more attention than it got.

Also, I found the idea of using wash tubs and scrub boards a little ludicrous. Yes, I know the Blue Team lost the challenge, so they get to do something that is not fun. But what’s next? Churning butter or milling grain or some other 19th century task? There must have been something a little more modern but just as unpleasant they could have done: gutting fish, peeling a truckload of potatoes, or something like that. Hey, spending the day working in the feedlot that produces the beef for the show would be pretty awful–wonder how some of the contestants would handle being up to their knees in manure?

After seeing their work in the kitchen, I’d say they’d feel right at home. :stuck_out_tongue:

All the contestants suck this season.

I’m pretty sure *doofus *is not latin.

As I’ve said before, the chefs this season are obviously cast to rather trigger Gordon Ramsay’s flaming rage than to actually display great culinary skills. It’s a shame though that they couldn’t toss in a couple of chefs that are actually worthy winners. Entertaining television or not, I don’t like the thought of any of these characters being rewarded an expensive haute cuisine restaurant.

Hasn’t it been revealed that none of the winners were actually handed a restaurant – merely a higher-up position in the kitchen?
