Hell's Kitchen - 5/13

Once more we descend into the circles of Hell…
Let’s see, what is this week’s theme? DamifIknow. But this time the mournful boob will be cooking with the Red team. I wonder if they will allow him to get through a whole service before they start using his back as a knife storage block.
Bring on the Ramsey abuse!

I think Matty is going to get a big fall if Karma has anything to say about him gloating over Ben’s downfall. And the men’s big plan to each nominate someone else just puts the decision where it always was anyway - in Ramsey’s hands. I think G.R. wasgoing after Jen just to see how she’d handle the criticism, which I think she sucks at taking. And Jen’s “He must be on his period or something” was such a low-class comment. Roseann is lucky she didn’t get her whiney Brooklyn butt kicked off, too.

The Red team has won so many more challenges. I wondered how they’d deal with the unequal team count. I think it’ll be a real mistake to try to move Jen to the Blue team. She really does lead the Red team, as much as I dislike her. And she and Bobby will be like oil and vinegar.

StG

Oh, yeah. If it has only been a couple of shots, but there must have been a dozen bits of him reacting to Ben’s problems. Matt will go soon, and vividly.

Also, I think, he feels she’s trying to usurp some of his control. Like last week, when she said something about ‘her fate was in her hands’ and he slapped her down.

Is that good or bad? Oil and vinegar don’t mix easily, but they make for a good salad dressing.
I think the other girls will push for Jen to go, thinking of it as a ‘strategic’ move.

I was unimpressed with the last stage of the taste test. Okay, once you’ve identified that it was clam chowder, there’s no need to be able to taste the individual ingredients, at least for the ones the men named. I mean, clams, potatoes, cream, carrots??? I’m surprised no one said salt or pepper.

I hope Matt flames out next, because I’m tired of his face, but I’m really glad he got to see Ben go home, because Ben was single-handedly destroying the Blue Team. I think the three remaining men are very strong chefs and without Ben causing problems, they should probably be able to gel.

I really hated Ben. I can’t believe it took so long for him to leave.

Wow! Chef Ramsey was in rare form last night.

I loved how Matt couldn’t keep his glee to himself while Bobby was getting reamed, and then sent home later! Karma is sweet…

To my surprise, I was delighted to see Matt gloat over Ben’s troubles (all of which he brought on himself.) And yes, now that there’s no Ben for a foil, Matt can go.

ETA:

I was also surprised at Ramsey’s reaction to Petrozza. You never know how somebody might take falling on the sword. Apparently, Ramsey saw it as a sign of class and strength.

I was really concerned too, I thought Ramsay was going to finish him off with some name calling or something but he saw it as a classy move instead. Jen, on the other hand, had a monstrous collapse in the face of criticism. Grown folks should not pout in cry in a corner when they get scolded. Her days may be numbered.

Ben had become completely worthless so I was more than happy to see him go. The men’s team is actually quite strong right now so the women better watch out.

What a good episode that was. I loved the tasting challenge. And I too am glad Ben is gone. Matt actually had a good night so I think he might be safe for a little while longer. I can’t wait to find out who the Red Team send sover to the Blue. That decision could make or break either team depending on who crosses over.

Wouldn’t it be cool if the girls teamed up to send Matt back to the blue Team. That would be very interesting.

I had this same issue. All you had to do was remember the recipe for clam chowder. The only tasting was in the determination of the finished product, not the individual ingredients.

I’m glad Ben is out. Was very tired of his drama but Matty has been built up for the big fall that will surely come

Yeah, Matt’s days are surely numbered. He’s a screw up at heart but got lucky because the spotlight wasn’t on him tonight. It was high time for Ben to get booted anyway, in no small part due his clumsy efforts at shifting the negative attention towards someone else who didn’t deserve it. I’m glad Ramsay saw through that turdpile. I am also surprised to be actually liking Petrozza now. I’m not sure he’s a great cook, but he’s successfully kept his head low for the most part and now emerges with class. Out of all the men, I think he’d be my pick.

As for the women, Roseann is at the top of my list to go next. She can’t cook for shit and she’s annoying. She should have been gone a couple of eps ago, IMO. I’ve never been all that impressed with Jen either, her attitude is unbecoming and unprofessional, but I do think Ramsay had it out for her a little bit tonight. She truly was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t. Corey should go for her manipulativeness and obvious detriment to the team. She’s lucky to still be there as well. So, I guess that leaves Christina as my pick for the women, though I don’t think she’s got what it would take to beat Petrozza if it were down to those two.

All in all, tonight’s show was slightly better than the last, but I’m still not thrilled about this season’s contestants. They’re a great, big bowl of meh.

I was very very happy to see Ben go–he’s been a schmuck. I hope Jen is next, she has rubbed me the wrong way since the beginning.

Her reaction reminded me of people I know who are cocky until they get criticized and then make it worse by overreacting.

I can’t pick anyone out as a winner at this point based on skill and there’s no one I really like. Maybe Louross.

Am I the only one that thinks it’s RIDICULOUS when they try to nominate on Survivor-type strategies on this show? Hello??? You actually have to have some specific cooking skill, you know.

hulu.com is showing previews for next week with Jen wearing a blue uniform. With the men’s team as strong as they are now, they’ll probably win - which means Little Miss Brooklyn is realy going to let her daughter down…

I agree that Jen moving over to the blue side will be the end of the red side but I never liked her either.
I’m not sure if Matt’s all that bad or if there was such a bad vibe on the blue team that it accentuated everyone’s worse characteristics. I would have liked him better if he could have gloated a little more quietly, and he doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. I noticed that with the blindfold on he seemed more normal. His eye/ eyebrow arrangement makes him look crazy and mean. We call him Stabby Meat Guy.

Hang on, hang on - by my count that leaves:

Men: Bobby, Matt, Petrozza, Louross
Women: Christina, Corey, Jen, Rosanne

The hell’s kitchen [url=]FOX Broadcasting Company | Full Episodes, Shows, Schedule bears this out, but the last episode recap contradicts this, and says it’s five women, three men. Which is it, and if I’m right about who’s still in, why is someone having to switch? I’m confused.

Edit: ah right, Matt was on the Red team. Silly me.
