It’s for Royal Caribbean Cruises, and it’s got a funky upbeat tempo, and the lyrics start out: “Here comes Johnny, yeah…”
Anybody?

“Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop
Lust for life by Iggy Pop, I believe…
Whle we’re on songs from commercials, anyone know the name of that song in the new rojan condom comemrcial? It features a young couple engaging in a kiss through a chain link fence.
::sigh::
If I hadn’t left my Caps on I would have beat you Gangster.
Then again I could have just posted lUST FOR lIFE BY iGGY pOP and faced the scorn of the masses.
Not sure…any more details?
Incidentally, it’s hard to think of a more inappropriate song for a cruise line. One poster on Slate’s board had the comment: “somewhere between the liquor and drugs, and the torture film, you realize this is no ordinary vacation.”
The song in the Trojans commercial is “This Life,” by Marc Ribler.
While we’re on the subject of identifying songs in commercials, what’s the one the guy lipsynchs to in the one for HP photo printers from a couple of months ago?
Is it “Pictures of You” by The Cure, or “Picture Book” by the Kinks?
What do you mean? It’s the perfect song for a cruise line!
Thanks for the help, guys! snogs all around
I don’t suppose you could recommend a travel agency…
I think that’s the one. Thanks!
IIRC, it must have been some other commercial that used this same song, but the version by the now-defunct neo-bluegrass Austin, TX band “Bad Livers”.
And it’s “here comes Johnny Yin, again”.
And if I thought the cruise would involve liquor and drugs, a flesh machine and Johnny doing a strip tease, I might consider taking one.
I guess they could have also used “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet, a major ripoff of “Lust For Life.”
Okay, I’ll toss one out, too. It’s been driving me nuts. What’s the instrumental song that plays during the Fox Nascar promos? They’re the ones that have the computer graphics cars rushing through a surreal world. Since it’s instrumental I don’t know how to describe it except that it’s primarily electronic but has a lead guitar line in it.
Aaand “Picture Book” by The Kinks isn’t on iTunes. Figures.
I was gonna say Rio by Duran Duran.
You can hear a sample via the Amazon listing to confirm that’s what you’re looking for. They’re offering the CD for $8.97.
It’s definitely “Picture Book” (I looked up the lyrics when saoirse mentioned the title) but it’s not The Kinks version. I think it’s the Young Fresh Fellows cover but I don’t think I’d want that entire CD just for the one track. The cover credited to Bill Lloyd & Tommy Womack on this tribute album is close and the other tracks are good, too.
