Help! Desert Spelling...

what is the proper spelling of Flam Bae?

you know, that desert with the alcohol poured over the bannanas and lit on fire?

im sorry for asking this here, but ive tried searching google (which usually corrects spelling) and dictionary.com (to look) but neither have been of any help…

thanks in advance:)

It’s flambe with an upwards-pointing accent over the e (I don’t know how to make it appear).

Gobi, Mojave, Gila, Kalahari…

Oh wait, we’re talking about desserts. From the title, it looked like deserts.

oops, lol

thats what i get ;j

thanks Otto for the response, of course I couldnt get it, damn accents

hehe

I believe the word is “flambée” which, in French, means “flamed”, maybe a useful word in the Pit.

To do the accent (called “E accute” wrt French language) on a PC, hold down the ALT key and hit 1 3 0 on the keypad. Enchantée.

I will not look up the others.

You must have different ASCII from mine. ALT+1+3+0 on my PC gives me a comma. I make the é with ALT+2+3+3.

That’s very odd.

ALT-233 gives me a theta.

I’m in Europe though - maybe the ASCII is different here. Of course one can also use MS Word Insert => Symbol, or in HTML é

As for that comment about the Kalahari: I wouldn’t recommend making a flambée there - too much dry savannah around.

Just so you know, flambé is not actually a name of a dessert – it’s a type of preparation, meaning “flamed.” You can’t just serve “flambé”; it has to be Something (usually a fruit) Flambé. I think the dessert you are referring to in the OP might be Bananas Foster.

P.S. I make the E accent acute by typing Alt-0233. Typing just Alt-233 without the zero makes a funny little bowtie-looking thing.

Does your keyboard have an <ALT GR> key?

Try holding it down and pressing e

é

Alt-130 = é
Alt-233 = _
Alt-0233 = é
Alt-0130 = ‚
