My email isn’t working today and I feel completely cut off from the “real world”. Before you decide that makes me too pathetic for words, read on:
My husband is away at school in another city.
My best friends all live in that same city.
My clients all use email to get in touch with me.
Many people I’d really LOVE to hear from, have no other way of getting in touch with me.
Help! Do I have anyway of influencing the world at all? Will anyone say hello to me today? Does it matter that I exist? Am I invisible?
Isn’t it sad that technology makes me re-examine my importance on the world?
You’ve got web access, Brunetter; set up a Hotmail or Yahoo webmail account, and you’ll be able to receive e-mail from any web browser.
You won’t be able to read the mail that arrives at your normal account (assuming the server’s down), but you can send messages to hubbie and friends and they can reply.
Thanks for the suggestion Atilla. I already do have a hotmail account but most people only know my non-hotmail address. The server is down for some stupid reason so I don’t know when it’s coming back up, I’ll just have to suck it up till then … and keep begging you folks for prove that I exist!
I have quelled the evil that lives at Shaw and cast their lousy DNS tables back into the pits from whence they came!!!
Armed with only a phone and my brain, I spurred myself on (hard to do with a phone and I think I may have broken something, but I digress) and waited on hold for 45 minutes only to discover that the Shaw tech I spoke with could not troubleshoot himself out of a wet paper bag if armed with pneumatic drill, a flamethrower and 14 mad Iranian terrorists.
That knowledge in my position, I set forth and managed to circumvent the idiocy of those who confronted me !!! Death to them and their minions!!!
All is right again in the world of Brunetter’s email. Woe betide he who stands between her and name resolution.
