I can say the same thing about NRA members and I would argue that the average NRA member is more dangerous than the average muslim (and proud of it).
I can say much of the same thing about poor people.
Okay, would people be so up in arms if an announcement was made along the lines of “Your children are more at risk from someone they know, than the old guy with the dirty raincoat. Be extra aware of males who have access to your children.”? That wouldn’t be demanding that anybody be persecuted, it would just be common sense advice to avoid a bad situation. It can’t be bigoted if what you are saying is rational.
Suggesting that the vast majority of American Muslims would be surprised to learn that they knew people involved with terrorism honestly strikes me as a rather vast overreaction as far as numbers go.
What percentage of American Muslims would you suspect are involved in terrorism in some way?

If you altered it to “Your children are more at risk of getting sexually abused from someone they know than by the Muslims in the mosque, but they are more at risk of getting blown up by the Muslims In The Mosque than by someone they know… unless you know a lot of Muslims..”, it’d reflect reality a bit better.
It is not bigoted to point out that a significant amount of Muslim terrorists spend some of there time in Mosques. Just like it is not bigoted to suggest that those Christians who want to harm doctors who carry out abortions, spend some of their time in churches.
If you’ve reached late adulthood and not been kept in a protective cocoon, someone you think you know has the potential to be involved in terrorism. Whether it be simple racist fuckwittery like bricking the windows of the local Asian store, or more lethal attempts.
Couldn’t put a real figure on it; probably less than the Muslim sub-section that are involved in illegal dog-fighting.

As far as I can recall, yes. (For people. Groups of inanimate objects are referred to by the third person feminine. Then there’s the case endings, which have been blotted from my memory.)

I live outside Dearborn Michigan. It has a population of about 100,000. Over 30 percent are Arabs. They have been here for decades. They are just people. The guy across the street from me was a poet from Iraq. I have known many Arabs for a long time. They are just like any body else. They are as good and as flawed as any other group.
Are there a few with dangerous ideas ? Perhaps, but in Michigan we are the home for the white guys who bombed Oklahoma City’s, Murrah building. I don’t hate or distrust Arabs or whites.
