Help finding a song whose chorus lyrics appear un-searchable; argh!

I’m getting too old for this

Heard a new blues song on the radio, recall the lyrics of the chorus, but they are so related to the Great Recession that all I get back is WSJ articles!

Too big to fold
Too big to fail
Too invested to investigate
To follow the money trail.

Nice, right? Singer is a woman with a world-weary Bonnie Raitt type vocal. Great guitar work for fills and solos.

If you can help - thank you! If you make me look like an idiot because the search is LMGTFY easy, well…I’ll take it but feel silly.

Bonnie Raitt-ish? Could it be Lucinda Williams? Just a guess.

What radio station were you listening to?

WBGO 88.3 out of New Jersey. Hmm, I will see if I can figure it out from there

ETA: Theresa James. Thanks!!

Always happy to help, brother. Glad you found it; hope you find the rest of her material as enjoyable.

ETA: Hey! Link us the song!

Oh shoot! I think this does it: Too Big to Fail - YouTube

Thanks; that was pretty good. Loved the guitar tone and Miss James has a terrific voice.

Just a general note (since I am big into lyrics as the song lyric thread can attest): all of these lyric sites steal from each other, shamelessly, mindlessly. There is very little “original research,” as in a good faith effort to get them right (with the issue of unresolvable Mondegreens which could honestly go either way an ongoing one).

Just an example, from a Simple Minds song, In Trance as Mission:
I see the time by the track
Can’t see the road for the tears
Taking kingdom for sun
Hands grabbing air

I transcribed these myself, about 6 months ago, and am reasonably sure of almost all the words. But you won’t find them on any lyrics site, Google will return no hits no matter which line you paste in (in " " of course). The entire stanza simply is not out there, anywhere.

Exactly. And I like the way the lyrics work - both wordplay and how they use the blues traditional of being kept down to speak to what has been happening today.

And the guitar - such a great tone. Love hearing a couple of notes rubbing together through a simple overdriven tube amp.

Back in the late 90s, I added a song to the biggest lyric site that existed at the time whose name I don’t recall at the moment. It was a song that a friend of mine and I wrote. The band name was our two middle names. The site accepted it and now it has propagated across all of those sites. I just checked and it’s on over twenty sites including some non-English ones.
