Help finding models of aesthetic sign regulations

I work for the planning department of a mid-sized suburban community. We’re currently in the process of updating our sign regulations. In addition to regulating the basic things like size, height, and setbacks of signs, the Village wants to include some measure of aesthetic control over signs. I’m looking for some sign regulations from communities that have aesthetic controls into their sign regulations to use as models for our own new regulaions. Can anyone point me in the right direction of some successful sign regulations of this type?

Thanks for your help

Here’s the Sign Regulations for a local town, that includes things like design guidelines (must at least appear to be natural wood, etc.)

It’s a .pdf file, by the way.

I swear I’m on a premature submit thing today…

Here’s the site where I found the link above - there’s tons of regulations listed under each state (including some for other towns in IL) so I have a feeling you might find what you need here. Additionally, the one I linked to is for an “upscale” kind of town, very picky about their signage, etc.
