I know this is a long shot, but I hope you can assist. About 6 years ago, I purchased a lovely necklace at the Something Silver location in Bellevue Square Mall (Bellevue, WA).
My house was recently burglarized and the necklace was among the items stolen. I would dearly love to purchase the necklace again, but I am having trouble finding it. So, I’m throwing this out there, in hopes someone might recognize the designer.
The pendant was a small glass rectangle (Lucite?) The design was a black bird, sitting in semi profile (raven or crow?). It looked like it was floating on top of the glass (if you looked at the back, it seemed like the bird was a “paper sticker” on the bottom, so it floated up. The design is very simple and minimalist, pure black on glass.
The pendant didn’t move freely along the chain, it was anchored on each side by the chain, so it was always in the middle. The chain was very pretty, very shiny, very silver (upscale). It was made by a specific designer who had more necklaces like this – black designs on glass. It cost around $75.00.
I’m looking for the designer so I can try to replace the necklace. I have googled extensively. It is not this, this,this, this orthis.
Many of the Etsy people will do custom orders. If you cannot find the original artist I would suggest that you look into having someone make a reproduction based on your photograph and description.
Just to get this out of the way: You did ask the people at the store, yes? (Assuming it still exists, and with the understanding that the same people may not work there anymore. But you never know.)
Hey Scarlett, I’ve emailed customer support for Something Silver. I no longer live in WA, so I’m not sure if my local store will recognize it. Will try it this weekend.
It looks like it might have been fused glass? If that’s the case, I know these aren’t the same bird, but it might be worth contacting one or more of these etsy sellers for a custom item:
When you say you have done Google searches, has that yielded anything? When I’m looking for a piece of clothing or an accessory that I don’t know the designer of, I use polyvore and shopstyle to do keyword searches.
It doesn’t always yield the results I need. Right now I am also looking for a necklace—one that I saw someone wearing on the train and that I know nothing about. I am kicking myself for not asking her about it, but she was in conversation with someone and that seemed rude. Using Shopstyle has helped me find some close runner-ups, though.
