Any Jewelry Makers Here?

I need to get some idea on how to make the necklace shown in these photos. Sorry about the quality - they are screenshots of a video and it’s the best that I can do.

I have the pendant already but I just don’t know what to call and how to search for the 2 piece necklace part shown in the photos.

The short chain that attaches to the necklace is attached with a jewel (diamond or CZ).

I would love to buy this intact and attach my own pendant, but I doubt that I’ll get that lucky.
I am happy to manufacture the chains myself, but I have no clue what to look for. A website devoted to making chains like this would be a great start.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

There are plenty of sources for gold chain including Amazon. The parts you need are clasps to hang that short chain from the longer one and connect your pendant. Amazon has those too. It’s helpful to get some open rings that can be crimped shut.

The part that attaches to the pendant looks like a lobster claw, so I’d start by searching ‘lobster claw necklace extender’ and see if you find something you like.

You could also make one yourself by getting a lobster claw, a short bit of chain and a split ring or two. It’s hard to tell for sure with that photo.

Yeah, it’s hard for me to see exactly what’s going on here. But honestly if you were willing to buy this intact, you could probably go to any jeweler and ask them to make it, if I understand the pic correctly it would be a pretty easy thing for anyone with a proper setup (basically bezel setting a small stone, maybe drilling some holes where necessary, and soldering the chain on).

If I were going to try to replicate it myself without a proper jeweler’s setup that could do the above, I would probably use something like one of the dangles with both a top and bottom ring attachment, shown here, with some jump rings as @TriPolar suggested:

I believe jamminggems can set the dangle themselves for an additional fee. You might even be able to ask them to solder the chain as well.
For do-it-yourself chain, I couldn’t find that at jamminggems but Fire Mountain Gems has a lot:

ETA: Oh, I didn’t see the lobster claw. Thanks @romansperson – yeah, you don’t even need to solder the chain, in that case.

Firemountain Gems.com is a great site.
They have every finding/chain and gem you could possibly want.
Plus books and instructions.

I suspect you can buy a kit to make that very necklace.

Thanks everyone! Just knowing the names of some of the bits helps quite a lot. The websites are great, too.

Is there a generic name for the type of necklace that I want?

Floating pendant? Or Drop pendant?

Sounds good to me.

ETA…Zales calls them Vertical Y necklace.

I don’t make jewelry but I do repair it. Those things are invaluable.

I was coming in to recommend Fire Mountain as well. My wife went through a jewelry-making phase and ordered a lot of stuff from them. I mostly remember the name because it seemed like we were getting a Sears-catalog-sized catalog in the mail from them every couple of weeks.
