Trump: Yeah you stayed the course. Are you saying that a woman whose husband cheat on her still has some sort of commitment to her husband? C’mon! You didn’t stay with Bill because you’re committed to marriage, you stayed with bill because your political ambitions would have die right there if you left Bill Clinton. Everybody knows it and the more you try to deny it the more uncomfortable you look. If you are going to lie as much as you do, you should at least try not to be so bad at it. I mean your lies are so transparent that even people that are voting for you think you’re a liar. This is true. Just look at the polls. YUUUGE.

This is indeed a terrible idea and would be a devastatingly stupid thing for Trump to say, but I don’t think it’s exactly his style of stupid thing to say.

There is no demographic who would be significantly moved toward him by hearing a philanderer chastise a woman for being cheated on or for her reaction to that cheating. There is a significant demographic–married women–who are likely to be moved away from him by hearing that.

The more he engages in this sort of hypocrisy, the better for Clinton. I hope he tries something very similar to your suggestion, only in his own words, because it’ll continue his downward trajectory.

You guys might find it comforting to think some clever line is gonna devastate The Donald and help Hillary, but Trump is absolutely going to wipe the floor with her. He’s gonna bring up lie after lie after lie. He’s gonna bring up Bill’s endless stream of girlfriends and assault victims and Hillary’s participation in or going along with the portrayal of them as bimbos, and then lambaste her for having the audacity to call herself the woman’s candidate. He’s gonna bring up her health and long history of blood clots and fainting and concussions and special eyeglasses and how much she’s aged just since she ran against Obama eight years ago. He’ll probably also bring up allegations of her saying some form of “Fuck you or Fuck off” to her protectors in the Secret Service and Arkansas Highway Patrol and heighten her image as an ill-tempered, unlikeable bitch on wheels. Plus lots of other stuff I have no idea of.

Hillary Clinton very likely has nightmares about these debates. And she should.

Seriously, I think your plan is about the only plan that could have made him do even worse than he did. Spending all his time talking about Clinton’s special eyeglasses? What’s next, calling her a lizard-person? Delving into the depths of alt-right conspiracy theory world is not a winning strategy.

Good on you for coming back, but I think you’re still deluding yourself. Trump has no discipline or ability to not hurl random “wrong” and “nasty woman” type insults and interjections, and no ability to not be baited by the very predictable references to prior bad behavior with women like Alicia Machado, and all of this was eminently predictable and should have been obvious to anyone paying attention.
